Home/ There’s A Beauty / Chapter 87 (Part 2)
You Shu quickly licked his master’s palm, letting out a coquettish sound from his nose. The Seventh Prince smiled with satisfaction, but the old ghost got goosebumps all over his body, and asked tentatively, “Did I just see it wrong? In fact, you were originally a dog, and you weren’t tricked into livestock farming?” Otherwise, where would anyone be so good at pretending to be a dog!
You Shu already had some dog-like characteristics in his bones, like being loyal and sticking to his master all day long, but now these characteristics have been infinitely magnified. He turned around and pointed his butt at the old ghost, indicating that he didn’t want to talk to him. The old ghost quickly begged for mercy and told many palace secrets to attract his attention.
“Let me tell you, the Empress has bulimia, and she eats a lot of food in private. When she’s full, she will vomit it out using her fingers, which is extremely disgusting. I suspect that her body will collapse sooner or later. By the way, your master’s Mufei is not a good person. The Empress’ situation is all caused by her. Even your master’s leg was paralyzed due to her poison, and she put all the blame on the Imperial Concubine. On the surface, the Empress Dowager devotes herself to practising Buddhism, but in fact she is the most promiscuous, having an affair with her own biological brother. They hang out in the Buddhist hall every half a month, doing all kinds of shameless things in front of the Bodhisattvas on the Buddhist altar…..”
The old ghost talked incessantly, but You Shu only listened to one sentence and quickly asked, “Do you know the truth about my master’s poisoning from back then?”
“Of course I know, this happened right under my nose.”
“Then do you know what kind of poison it was?” You Shu couldn’t feel it when he checked the pulse before, which shows that the medicinal materials in this world have their own unique characteristics.
“On the surface, it was the poison of wolfberry grass, but in fact it was vermilion vine. Those imperial doctors were not as skilled as me, so they didn’t notice it. When the antidote of wolfberry grass got mixed with vermilion vine, it formed a new poison, eventually paralysing your master. By the way, the imperial doctor who diagnosed your master’s pulse has been bribed by Concubine Hui. If your master continues to drink the medicine he prescribed, he will die sooner or later.” The old ghost is worthy of being an old ghost, knowing everything.
You Shu’s eyes lit up and he asked anxiously, “Do you also know medical skills?”
“If I really say it, I’m afraid I will scare you to death. I am none other than the legendary miraculous doctor Zhang Jimin, who was once the number one national expert in the Zhou Dynasty!” The old ghost stroked his beard proudly. He died of exhaustion while researching a new medicine. Due to his obsession with the medicinal research, he got trapped in the palace, unable to reincarnate.
You Shu was both surprised and happy, and he quickly begged, “Doctor Zhang, do you have a way to cure my master? As long as the master can stand up again, I am willing to pay any price.”
It seems that he really entered the palace to repay his kindness. The old ghost felt something in his heart, but was really helpless, “Little friend, to tell you the truth, my obsession is getting weaker day by day, and my figure is getting shallower, so I will disappear very soon.”
“I know how to make talismans. How about I make a few yin-yang vitality talismans to replenish your energy?”
“Obsession has nothing to do with energy. I have reached the pinnacle of my medical career and I no longer have any delusions.”
“Pinnacle of your medical career? Can you cure intestinal carbuncle, asthma, tuberculosis, and diabetes? Do you know how to cut open the stomach, or even craniotomy? Do you know how to sew your limbs back together again if they are broken…..” You Shu rattled off a lot of modern medical terms. Although the old ghost couldn’t understand most of them, he could vaguely understand their meaning. He remained silent, thinking all the way.
You Shu knows that once the door to the new world is opened, it will be difficult to close it again. When the old ghost reacts, he will have to be trapped in the palace for hundreds of years. At that time, if the other party wants to learn new medical knowledge from himself, he must treat his master.
Feeling relaxed, You Shu lay in his master’s arms and fell asleep. When he opened his eyes again, he was almost in the study room. The Eighth Prince, who was far away from them, quickly caught up with them and pretended to say, “Brother, let me help you.” As he spoke, he pushed the wheelchair.
The fur all over You Shu’s body suddenly exploded and his nose twitched slightly, emitting a hostile roar. The Seventh Prince picked him up and whispered, “Don’t be afraid, he has to pretend to be friendly and respectful every day at this time, and he won’t do anything else.”
You Shu finally relaxed and looked up, only to see that Taifu was smiling at the Eighth Prince, his face full of admiration. (Taifu = (Grand Tutor/Imperial Preceptor)
“Sigh, this Eighth Prince is really a hypocrite.” The old ghost, who had never spoken before, suddenly floated up and said flatteringly, “You Shu, do you want to cure your master? Do you want to know what’s going on in Ganquan Palace? Do you want to keep an eye on the Eighth Prince and the other princes all the time? This old man can help you do it.”
You Shu forced himself not to respond, but his tail wagged uncontrollably.
The old ghost continued to tempt him, “Don’t keep your mouth closed! The Eighth Prince is also aware of what happened back then. Both he and Concubine Hui wish that your master would die soon! If it weren’t for your master inducing the emperor’s pity to help Concubine Hui in maintaining her favour, all that would’ve been left is a pair of withered bones!”
“Alright, I’ll leave these things to you. As you finish these tasks, I’ll teach you bit by bit. To show my sincerity, I’ll first give you a secret recipe for treating typhoid fever. You remember it.” You Shu relaxed and wagged his tail even faster.
One ghost and one dog reached an agreement, and then they accompanied the Seventh Prince to class. You Shu took out the Four Books and Five Classics one by one from the bookcase, and neatly placed them on the table. He also held a brush in his mouth, tilted his head to poke at the inkstone, and then presented it to his master like a treasure.
“You Shu is so good.” The Seventh prince smiled like a bright sun, but the other princes were all jealous. They had long heard that a very precious Zangxiu dog had arrived in the palace, and was sent to Ganquan Palace by their father. Today was the first time they saw it. This little guy is just as cute as the rumours, and it is also very clever and obedient. Look at the Seventh Prince, he’s almost grinning to his ears.
Out of jealousy, a certain prince raised his hands and said, “Taifu, the study room is a place for learning. How can we let animals come in and cause mischief?”
The smile on the Seventh Prince’s face quickly faded, and just as he was about to plead, Taifu had already waved his hand, “Your Highness the Seventh Prince, take the puppy out. There are some rules you must follow in the study room, so I can’t just let it go for your sake.”
“Taifu, You Shu is very obedient and will not disturb others.” The Seventh Prince pleaded. This was the first time he had shown weakness in front of others.
However, Taifu remained unmoved and directly ordered someone to carry the little dog out. You Shu didn’t want to make things difficult for his master or be touched by strangers. So he grabbed the hem of his master’s clothes with his small paw and slowly slid down. When he ran to the door, he let out two barks, meaning that ‘I would pick you up after school’.
The Seventh Prince actually understood and smiled reluctantly. He waved to Xiao Shunzi and ordered him to take good care of You Shu.
Turning back, he met the gloating eyes of his brothers, and a violent anger suddenly rose in his heart. It shouldn’t be like this, he shouldn’t be arbitrarily manipulated, trampled, and oppressed, along with You Shu who had to suffer with himself. He should become stronger and climb higher, so high that even his emperor father cannot suppress him. That way, even if he brought You Shu to court, who would dare to criticize with a single word?
As soon as this idea emerged, it occupied the entire mind of the Seventh Prince, making it difficult for him to let go of it as if he had been possessed by a demon. In a daze, he heard Taifu giving a random assignment to write a policy essay titled “Resolving the Difficulty of Dragon City”.
The Dayan Kingdom has a hostile relationship with the neighbouring Zheng Kingdom, fighting wars for hundreds of years, with each side occasionally winning and losing. Sixty years ago, Dayan suffered a disastrous defeat by Zheng, losing ten cities including Dragon City. Two years ago, General Huwei defeated Zheng and recaptured ten cities.
However, the people in the cities had already been enslaved for a long time and refused to recognise themselves as Dayan people, resulting in frequent uprisings. Dragon City is the first of the ten cities. With this place in chaos, the other nine cities also followed suit. So even if we won the battle, what’s the point? It’s still not worth the loss. Moreover, Zheng has been secretly acting as the pusher, intending to instigate the rebellion of the ten cities without any bloodshed, and it was about to succeed.
Emperor Jing had been troubled by this problem for a long time, and even after asking all the courtiers, he couldn’t come up with a good solution. Suppressing with force will not work, it will only make the people of the ten cities more disgusted with Dayan, thus promoting the development of the rebellion;
Seeking peace will also not work, it will greatly damage the interests of Dayan, thus humiliating the dignity of the royal family. It was only because of the incompetence of civil and military officials that Taifu asked this question today. Although this question was a class assignment on the surface, it was actually a test conducted by Emperor Jing on the princes.
The princes paid a lot of attention to the court affairs, so they naturally understood the inside story and were extremely serious when writing.
The Seventh Prince is already half-disabled. In order to live a safe and stable life, and to make the Eighth Prince appear more dazzling, he usually doesn’t show himself very well. His assignments have always been mediocre, and the comments he received from Taifu were all average.
But now, he decided to change the status quo. He wanted to show his true self to gain his father’s attention. He did live a low-key life in the past, but what he got in exchange was not stability and love, but ruthless exploitation, including a daily dose of poisonous medicine.
If there was no You Shu, he might have resigned himself to his fate, but not now. The Seventh Prince closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, his eyes shone with unparalleled sharpness. He abandoned the usual hairpin flower small script and replaced it with cursive calligraphy of iron painting and silver hook.
He wrote word by word, “There are three strategies to solve the difficulties of Dragon City: The worst strategy is to use violence to fight violence; A slightly better strategy is to divide and alienate; The best strategy is to use force to divide and conquer. The first two strategies require twice the effort with only half the result, so I won’t talk about them. I will only talk about the best strategy here…”
Taifu was originally walking around casually, but when he caught a glimpse of the Seventh Prince’s article, he couldn’t help but be shocked, and he praised it in his heart.
