Chapter 86 (Part 2) – There’s A Beauty

Home/ There’s A Beauty / Chapter 86 (Part 2)

Having studied Chinese and Western medicine, You Shu’s already keen sense of smell was enhanced a hundred times after turning into a dog. In an instant, he smelled that something was wrong with the bowl of medicine. When prescribing traditional Chinese medicine, you must pay attention to the “eighteen contradictions and eighteen fears”.

Simply put, many Chinese herbal medicines are incompatible with each other and must be avoided from appearing in the same prescription. You Shu wondered if the doctors of Dayan Kingdom knew this kind of common sense, but the imperial physician who prescribed medicine to his master obviously committed a taboo by actually mixing several conflicting medicinal herbs together. Although the toxicity is mild, if taken all year round, it could cause physical weakness and organ failure.

The master is already poisoned, and it is very difficult to detect the mischief involved. In the future, when he finally collapsed and died, who would doubt it? You Shu was so angry and anxious that as soon as the palace maid came to the table, he pounced on her and tried to knock the medicine bowl away. The Seventh Prince was already on guard in order to prevent the puppy from getting burned, so before it could fall on the ground, he picked it up in mid-air and hugged it tightly, his face turning pale with fear.

The chief palace maid was also startled and the medicine bowl in her hands fell to the ground as she stepped back while screaming. Fortunately, the concoction didn’t splash on anyone, but poured on the ground.

“Your Highness, have you got scalded? This puppy is too mischievous. You’d better send it back. You are not in good health, and you will fall ill if you are troubled by it a few more times.” The chief palace maid avoided the medicine on the ground and knelt down to persuade.

“This Palace doesn’t need your advice to make his decisions. Clean this up immediately to avoid scalding You Shu.” The Seventh Prince ordered while carefully inspecting the puppy’s body.

The chief palace maid hesitated to speak, but was forced back by his sharp gaze, and had to go out and call for people. Seeing that there was no one else in the hall, You Shu immediately broke away from his master’s arms, jumped to the ground, and pretended to lick the concoction. Then he staggered a few steps and finally rolled his eyes, lying motionless with his belly facing upward.

His actions were very funny, making the Seventh Prince laugh repeatedly.

Seeing this, You Shu had no choice but to get up and perform again. This time he moved slowly and let out a few mournful screams before pretending to be dead, even sticking out his tongue.

The Seventh Prince suddenly stopped smiling, his eyes shrouded with dark clouds. You Shu knew that he must’ve understood, so he quickly walked over and pulled at the hem of his clothes with her front paws, making a soothing sound.

“Did I scare you? I’m sorry.” His deep anger instantly faded into tenderness. He picked up the puppy and patted it gently, saying in a low voice, “Is this bowl of medicine poisonous?”

You Shu nodded hurriedly.

The Seventh Prince fell silent, his eyes gradually becoming empty, not knowing what he was thinking. Believing the judgement of a puppy, ordinary people will definitely think that he is crazy. But the problem is, You Shu is not an ordinary puppy. He is very smart, even smarter than most people. He is also wholeheartedly loyal to himself. If he doesn’t believe this little thing, who else can he believe?

When the master was silent, You Shu didn’t not dare to move around, afraid of interrupting the other party’s train of thoughts. He was also thinking about who the culprit might be. Logically speaking, the master is already disabled and is not qualified to inherit the throne. What is the point of harming him? Who can benefit from it?

“It’s Mufei (concubine mother).” When these few light words fell into You Shu’s ears, he was really stunned for a long time.

The Seventh Prince’s eyes were deep and there was no trace of emotion at all. He leaned into You Shu’s ear and whispered word by word, “It’s Mufei. If I die, the Eighth Prince will be qualified to inherit the throne. She and the Eight Prince, these two people want me to live the least in this world. Moreover, this Shuangxue Palace is completely under her control. If she wants me to live, I can live. If she wants me to die, I will die in the most suitable place and time.”

Twins cannot succeed to the throne, which is the root of all evils. Thinking about it now, even the so-called “suffering on behalf of the father” back then had the shadow of his Mufei everywhere. He was poisoned and paralyzed, and the Imperial Concubine Bai Ling was sentenced to death. Her natal family was implicated in nine clans, the eldest prince was demoted to a commoner, and the empress was locked up in the cold palace and fell out of favor. No one came to a good end, except for Mufei who had never been in the limelight. She climbed up to the top and is still favored to this day.

“No wonder my father didn’t come for a long time, and I am the one who got seriously ill. No wonder…” The Seventh Prince’s voice became lower and lower, and his hands tightened even more.

You Shu was in pain, but he couldn’t bear to struggle. He turned his head and gently licked the back of his master’s hand with protruding veins, tears welling up in his eyes. Everything the master suffered was because he gave up his Star position. He should be powerful and high up in the sky; He was supposed to be the Emperor star and the King of all Kings, but now he was reduced to a tool and a puppet in the hands of a sinister woman, who is still his biological mother.

How sad and angry should he be in his heart? But he couldn’t reveal it at all, because everyone in Shuangxue Palace is the spy of Concubine Hui, and they are always monitoring him so that he could get sick, or even die at the right time.

This is not a palace, but a death row. His master, let alone self-protection, doesn’t even have the ability to go out alone! You Shu’s heart ached so much that he hugged his master’s palm and sobbed, tears wetting the fur on his face, looking extremely pitiful.

In the midst of despair and indignation, there is still a little life that could cry for him. The Seventh Prince’s heart, which had been cut with a steel knife, immediately healed. He buried his face on You Shu’s back and comforted in a low voice, “Be good, don’t cry. We will be fine.”

Although he said that, he couldn’t think of a way out of the predicament for a while, and his only thought was: Fortunately, You Shu is so cute. If I die, others will definitely be willing to adopt him.

A son never speaks of his father’s wrongdoing, and it is the same with the mother. As a son, he suspected that his mother poisoned him and went to appeal to his father without conclusive evidence. What would his father think?

Furthermore, this is the royal family, which is completely different from ordinary families. It can be without warmth and love, but it cannot be without suspicion. Moreover, since Concubine Hui dared to poison him, she must have already laid a good plan, and the final outcome may not involve her, but rather eliminate an enemy for her.

The Seventh Prince hated his own powerlessness, especially when he thought that one day in the future, You Shu would be snuggling in the arms of another person like he is now, and his heart began to ache. Why should he give You Shu to others to raise? Why can’t he live well and take good care of him?

An extremely strong desire to survive arose from the bottom of his heart, causing the seventh prince to cheer up quickly. He raised You Shu to his lips and kissed him, saying firmly, “Don’t be afraid, I will protect you.”

“I will also protect you!” You Shu snorted in response, hugging his master’s handsome face with his two fat and short front paws, barely counting as a hug.

At this time, the chief palace maid led two eunuchs in and ordered, “Wipe off the medicinal juice on the floor, and burn some incense.” Finally, she presented a bowl of medicine with both hands and said with concern, “Your Highness, I have boiled the medicine again, please drink it while it’s hot.”

How could You Shu let her succeed? He immediately wanted to pounce on her, but was tightly held in his master’s arms, so he could only bark with hostility.

“Put it there, this Palace will drink it later.” The Seventh Prince picked up the “Classic of Mountains and Seas” and flipped through it, his face expressionless.

His Highness has always been mature and prudent, never refusing to drink medicine. The chief maid didn’t suspect anything and put down the bowl before going out. The two eunuchs dried up the medicine juice on the floor, burned the incense, and then left together.

The Seventh Prince then picked up the bowl, but he didn’t know where to pour it. Outside the window was the corridor, where the palace maids and eunuchs kept coming and going. If they find traces of water on the ground and a strong smell of medicine, they will immediately be alerted. Brush washers, floor-standing vases, chamber pot, and other items are all cleaned every day. If the medicine was found in them, it would definitely be reported, startling the snake.

The seventh prince put down the bowl, hating his own powerlessness. If he had a strong body, why would he be like this? Just now, he said that he would take good care of You Shu, but now it seems like a joke! His eyes turned red, his fingertips were trembling, and his expression looked angry and dispirited.

You Shu also began to resent himself for being a Zangxiu dog. If he had turned into a Tibetan mastiff, he would have gone to Ganquan Palace and bit Concubine Hui to death. He was circling around anxiously, and when he saw the big suitcase in the corner, he suddenly had an idea. He barked at his master, then raised his paw and pointed at the box.

The Seventh Prince understood, “You want to pour the medicine into the clothes?”

You Shu nodded and was about to jump off his master’s lap, but was caught back. The Seventh Prince turned the wheelchair to the big suitcase and took out a thicker black robe. Fortunately, he doesn’t like to be served by palace servants, and he can do trivial things by himself. That’s why the furniture in Shuangxue Palace is very low-rise, so that he can reach it with his hands. Otherwise, now he can only say ‘the sky is not responding and the earth is not working properly’.

(The sky is not responding and the earth is not working properly = It means when you are in trouble, there’s nowhere to complain, nowhere to express your reasons, and no one to help you.)

The Seventh Prince poured the concoction onto the robe. At first glance, nothing looked strange, but the smell was a bit strange. But the Seventh Prince had been suffering from illness all year round, and the palace was filled with the scent of medicine, so it wouldn’t attract anyone’s attention.

At this moment, You Shu raised his two front paws and danced wildly, then opened his mouth to hold a piece of clothing and pretended to walk out the door.

The Seventh Prince had understood it a long time ago, but he pretended to be ignorant, causing You Shu to perform several more times. Only when his head was dizzy and he rolled around on the ground, groaning, did the Seventh Prince suppress his laughter and said, “Do you want me to roll up the clothes so you can take them out at night and throw them away?”

You Shu, who was still rolling around, immediately jumped up and nodded wildly.

The Seventh Prince put his fist to his lips and coughed lightly, asking, “Where are you going to throw it? Do you know the way?”

You Shu lay on the floor like a turtle, paddling his limbs and performing a swimming motion.

“You want to throw it in the lotus pond behind Shuangxue Palace? But the problem is that you are so small, can you hold this roll of clothes in your mouth?”

You Shu raised one front paw and patted his chest, indicating that he was very strong. His legs became shorter and his running speed was greatly affected, but his strength was still there.

The Seventh Prince was constantly amused by his cute actions, but he couldn’t laugh in front of him, lest he hurt You Shu’s self-esteem, so he had to ball up the clothes, tie them up, and put them to his mouth to try.

After folding a robe, it turned out to be even taller than himself. You Shu could barely hold it in his mouth, but he couldn’t pick it up at all. He could only drag and pull it repeatedly, which took a lot of effort.

The Seventh Prince laughed secretly. He waited until the little thing was so tired that it stuck out its tongue before hiding the clothes under the bed. He smiled and said, “Don’t bother yourself anymore. I will put the clothes in the bookcase tomorrow and take them to the study room with me. Then I will find an opportunity to throw them in the lake. There is an artificial lake near the upper study room, which is much larger than the lotus pond in Shuangxue Palace. After soaking the clothes in the water for a while, the medicine will disperse, and it will be fine even if someone finds it.”

Only then did You Shu let out a sigh of relief. He bit the clothes as if to vent his anger, rolling his head left and right and tearing at it, causing the Seventh Prince to laugh incessantly.
