Chapter 89 (Part 2) – There’s A Beauty

Home/ There’s A Beauty / Chapter 89 (Part 2)

As he was thinking about it, the chief maid came in with a bowl of medicine and spoke as if nothing had happened before, “Your Highness, it’s time to drink the medicine.”

The Seventh Prince said lightly, “Put it there first, and bring over the horse whip of this Palace.”

The chief palace maid put down the medicine bowl and asked doubtfully, “Why does His Highness need a horse whip?” However, she still went into the inner room and brought the whip.

“Kneel down.” The Seventh Prince took the whip and his voice turned cold.

The chief palace maid knew that he wanted to settle accounts after autumn, so she couldn’t help but show a look of resentment.

“You are the servant of this Palace. If this Palace asks you to kneel, you will kneel. If you are not willing, I will go back to my father and ask him to help you change jobs.”

The chief palace maid was horrified and knelt down quickly. She thought that His Highness Seventh Prince had always been cowardly and had a very gentle temper. Even if he punished people, she would only be whipped a few times, so it would not be a big deal.

However, she almost forgot that although Concubine Hui held the golden seal in her hands, she still had Emperor Jing on her head. Emperor Jing was the ruler of Dayan and the reliance of His Highness the Seventh Prince. But so what? The Seventh Prince probably never imagined that he is going to die soon, right?

Thinking of this, the chief palace maid, who had never taken the Seventh Prince seriously, finally found a trace of balance and lowered her head slightly to hide her disdainful expression.

After a while, she heard the Seventh Prince say slowly, “This Palace is not a cruel person, and will not kill anyone without any reason. Today, this Palace will only whip you once to teach you who is your true master and who can control your life and death.”

It’s just one whip, it’s really a woman’s benevolence! The palace maid thought to herself contemptuously, and was relieved in her heart. However, to her surprise, the Seventh Prince actually raised his hand and fiercely whipped her on the face.

The barbed whip struck her forehead, left eye, nose bridge, lips, and jaw, forming a wound with deep bones visible and an oblique cut on the face. The skin of the eyelids was already the thinnest and most fragile, and now it was completely cut open, revealing a bloody eyeball. The chief palace maid covered the eyeball that was about to fall out of its socket and screamed, her heart filled with disbelief and horror.

It turns out that the so-called benevolence of women is actually like this. This whip directly destroyed her eyesight, appearance, and future. Even if Concubine Hui relies on her again, she already knows too many of her(ch) secrets and has no use now, meaning she(ch) will definitely cut down the roots.

Where is the Seventh Prince cowardly? Where is he gentle? He also has a violent and vicious side, and he even uses the means to kill without any bloodshed, it’s just that he has never shown it before. At this moment, the chief palace made finally realized that she had underestimated His Highness the Seventh Prince too much, but it was too late to ask for mercy. As long as she was carried out of the Shuangxue Palace, she would only die.

She began to cry bitterly, howl, and confess, even wanting to reveal all the calculations of Concubine Hui so that His Highness could show her a way out, but she was pulled out by two eunuchs who suddenly walked in. All the palace attendants who had been watching indifferently knelt down one after another, obviously frightened.

The Seventh Prince brushed off the medicine bowl on the table and ordered, “If you want to kneel down, kneel in front of this Palace.” Seeing You Shu trembling in fright at the sound of bowl breaking, he quickly went to rub his furry head.

With the chief maid as a warning, no one dared to disobey. They moved closer one by one and reluctantly knelt on the broken porcelain pieces. The hall was immediately filled with continuous gasping sounds, blending the medicinal scent with fresh blood, forming a depressing atmosphere filled with oppression.

Xiao Shunzi had already bandaged You Shu and carefully placed him in the arms of His Highness the Seventh Prince. One person and one dog immediately hugged each other, licking and kissing each other with tears in their eyes. This scene made Xiao Shunzi have mixed feelings, and also made Emperor Jing’s eyes turn red as he hurriedly walked into the hall.

That spy was indeed very skilled in handling affairs. He had reported everything in detail just now, including everyone’s expressions and movements. Emperor Jing had been in a high position for a long time and had seen many ghostly tricks. He quickly figured out why Concubine Hui and Lao Ba treated Lao Qi like this, and even became suspicious of what had happened back then.

He, who was originally furious, suddenly became extremely depressed after seeing the tragic situation of his son and the puppy. He claimed to be a loving father, but he always ignored the situation of Lao Qi. Where is Lao Qi, a relative of Concubine Hui and Lao Ba? Instead, he is a stumbling block for them. In this world, they are the ones who most want Lao Qi to die quickly.

No wonder Lao Qi takes care of a dog as if it was his lifeblood. Is it because he has already noticed it long ago? His younger brother is not his younger brother, and his mother is not his mother. They are all his enemies, taking care of him in every way on the surface, but actually treating him coldly behind the scenes, even wanting to kill him. Apart from the puppy, he couldn’t get even a little bit of warmth and comfort from anyone. How did he survive all these years? Did he live every second as if walking on thin ice?

And these vague fears, he even had nowhere to confide, because no one would believe him, including himself before this day. Emperor Jing felt heartbroken and quickly walked over to embrace his son.

“Father, don’t press down on You Shu!” The Seventh Prince immediately blocked him with his hands.

“Sorry, your father didn’t pay attention.” Emperor Jing quickly retreated and wanted to rub the puppy’s head, but was blocked by his son, his anger and worry being replaced by laughter and tears. But he could understand his son’s strong desire to protect this little thing. When everyone looked on coldly at his life and death, only this little dog rushed forward regardless of danger. It was just a pet, while the people kneeling here were all his servants.

At the end of the day, these servants are not even as good as a dog, so what’s the use of them? Emperor Jing waved his hands lightly, “No need to kneel down, take them all out and kill them with sticks!”

After listening to the first half of the sentence, everyone was about to show a joyful expression, but in the next moment they all collapsed.

At this moment, Concubine Hui and the Eighth Prince rushed over after hearing the news. They were about to kneel down and explain, but were interrupted by Emperor Jing in a deep voice, “I will take Lao Qi away. His character is too weak, while you and Lao Ba had strong fates. Sooner or later, you will turn against him.”

This was just a high-sounding excuse. Concubine Hui understood everything when she saw the little eunuch standing behind the emperor. Her face instantly turned pale, almost unable to think about how the emperor would view this matter. What Lao Ba did today was obviously to kill Lao Qi and the little dog. The emperor is also a winner who emerged from the turmoil in the palace. How can he not guess the inside story? And her pretense of a kind mother must have been exposed, right?

Only then did Concubine Hui realise that even if she obtained the Empress’s Phoenix Seal, she wasn’t the master of the harem. The real master had always been the emperor. There is nothing in this world that he cannot find out, except for the things that he himself doesn’t want to know or even disdains to know.

The Eighth Prince also panicked and knelt down with a plop, saying in a trembling voice, “Father, everything is a misunderstanding. It was that damn servant who didn’t keep an eye on the dog and let it run out…”

Emperor Jing interrupted him, “Where is that dog?”

The guards standing on both sides immediately went to bring the dog, unaware that an old ghost passed by them.

“Little friend, how are you?” He floated to the side of the Seventh Prince and carefully looked at You Shu who was wrapped into a ball.

At this time, You Shu was nestled in his master’s palm, repeatedly licking the fingertips, and hugging one of his thumbs with his fat and short front paws to gain a sense of security.

The Seventh Prince understood that he still had lingering fears, so he picked him up and kissed him on his lips, saying in a low voice, “Did you hear? You Shu, we don’t have to worry anymore in the future.”

However, the price paid for this was too high. He did want to anger Lao Ba and make him do irrational things, but he would never risk You Shu’s life. If he could, he wished he could transfer all of You Shu’s wounds to himself, and he couldn’t forgive what Concubine Hui and Lao Ba did today. From now on, they are no longer his relatives, but eternal enemies.

You Shu was also filled with hatred and hummed to comfort his master while communicating with the old ghost, “I’m fine. Have you prepared the antidote?”

“How could it be this quick? The palace’s royal pharmacy does not have all the medicinal herbs needed for the antidote. I have asked a ghost to go to the capital to look for them. I know how to make it, but we still have to wait for a few days. I brought the medicinal powder to save you, but I didn’t expect it to be a step too late.”

“What kind of powder?”

“This medicinal powder can lure away the ghost mastiff, keep it for a while and then sprinkle it on the Eighth Prince to make him suffer later.”

“Then let’s sprinkle it on Emperor Jing.”

The old ghost was silent for a moment before saying, “You’re so cruel!”

Not long after, the guards brought the ghost mastiff up in the iron cage. The ghost mastiff swung its tail when it saw the Eighth Prince and Concubine Hui.

However, upon seeing Emperor Jing, its front paws kept scratching the door, and his sharp teeth gnawed at the copper lock, making a terrifying creaking sound. Dents quickly appeared on the copper lock, and it is not difficult to imagine what the situation would be like if this pair of claws and teeth fell on Emperor Jing.

Emperor Jing was silent for a long time before saying, “Lao Ba, you have tamed this dog extremely well. It doesn’t recognize anyone except you and Concubine Hui. It even wants to bite me to death.”

Who dares to take the blame for regicide? The Eighth Prince and Concubine Hui were so frightened that they repeatedly kowtowed to apologise.

However, Emperor Jing no longer wanted to deal with the two of them. He waved his hand to the guard and said, “Kill it. No more fighting dogs are allowed in the palace in the future.”

The guard took the order and immediately pulled out the sword from his waist, chopping off the head of the barking ghost mastiff.

Concubine Hui and the Eighth Prince, who were splashed with blood all over their bodies, screamed. In addition to fear, there was also deep-hidden despair in their eyes. It’s over, the emperor has already begun to doubt them. According to his suspicious nature, he will definitely conduct a thorough investigation of everything that happened in the past.

Has all the evidence been wiped clean? Concubine Hui tried her best to think, but then she heard the emperor say, “The empress has recovered from her illness, please return the phoenix seal.” He went to push the Seventh Prince’s wheelchair in person and said warmly, “From now on, Lao Qi will live in Guangling Palace, so I can take care of him nearby.”

Due to the lack of evidence and the fact that Ouyang Tao has a large army in his hand, Emperor Jing is currently unable to deal with Concubine Hui and Lao Ba. He has to take it as if he hasn’t yet realised it and see if they will mess up in the future.

Emperor Jing, who himself had walked step by step through the power struggle, could best understand Lao Qi’s hesitation and helplessness. He was talented but unfortunately unlucky, and was sacrificed by his mother as an abandoned son because of his father’s ignorance, without even having the right to choose. Apart from his father and the little dog in his arms, he can be said to be completely helpless.

Looking down at his son who was holding the puppy like a fragile object, Emperor Jing felt pity and couldn’t help but pat him on the top of his head and sighed, “Changye, your father is really ashamed.”

The Seventh Prince shook his head quickly and said sincerely, “Father saved this son from fire and water, so there is no need for my father to feel sorry in any way. This son and You Shu will no longer have to be afraid in the future.”

Upon hearing this, Emperor Jing felt even more uncomfortable. While Concubine Hui, who kept kowtowing, suddenly realised: Lao Qi had already noticed her plan long ago, and placed a hidden stake from Qianqing Palace beside her. Everything today was designed by him, and perhaps even the reckless behaviour of Lao Ba was instigated by him. As expected of a seed from the Ji family, the city is really deep. If she had known this, she would have strangled him during childbirth that year!

Concubine Hui was so regretful that she secretly blamed herself for not being ruthless enough, but she didn’t know that her and Lao Ba’s lives were being targeted by a puppy.
