Chapter 89 (Part 1) – There’s A Beauty

Home/ There’s A Beauty / Chapter 89 (Part 1)

Ghost Mastiff is a subspecies of Tibetan Mastiff, most of which are infected with diseases, have unstable temperaments, and are often domesticated as fighting dogs by humans. The nobles of the Dayan Kingdom have a special fondness for fighting dogs, often gathering together to watch, and these fighting dogs in the palace are used for performances at large palace banquets.

In order to make the scene more intense and bloody, the eunuchs of the Cat and Dog House often starve them for more than ten days, and then release the prisoners on death row from the prison for them to chase and bite. The human flesh after being bitten to death naturally becomes food for the dog.

The ghost mastiff kept by the Eighth Prince is five years old and has eaten countless people. Therefore, it is extremely fierce and even the evil spirits get frightened when they see it.

You Shu hid in the deepest part of the cave, watching with fear as the ghost mastiff’s sharp claws continued to attack him, but missed by half an inch every time. Before he could breathe a sigh of relief, he saw the dog starting to dig at the ground, trying to make the hole bigger. What should he do?

When You Shu was helpless, the Seventh Prince’s eyes were about to burst, and he kept shouting, “Lao Ba, lock up your dog quickly! If he hurts You Shu, this Palace will never let you have a good end!”

The Eighth Prince stood in the corridor, staring at him with mocking and malicious eyes.

The Seventh Prince had no choice but to look at the rest of the palace attendants and shout at the top of his lungs, “Go and catch that dog. Go quickly!”

Xiao Shunzi and the newly arrived young eunuch were about to move, but two palace maids pressed their shoulders, one on the left and the other on the right, warning in a low voice, “In this Shuangxue Palace, who dares to move without the order of His Highness the Eighth Prince? Don’t you want to live anymore?”

The new eunuch was about sixteen years old, very thin and frail in appearance, but his eyes were very bright and his lower body was very stable. He should be a skilled practitioner. He glanced at the arrogant and cold-looking Eighth Prince, and then at the helpless Seventh Prince, with a complex expression in his eyes.

No wonder the emperor sent him here. No wonder he was instructed before leaving to report the situation in Shuangxue Palace and Ganquan Palace at all times, and to protect the Seventh Prince. It turned out that this was the case. He tried to break free from the oppression of the palace maid, but was restrained by two eunuchs. He could only whisper, “But His Highness the Seventh Prince is also the master!”

“He won’t die.” The chief palace maid’s answer was chilling.

The ghost mastiff was still digging the hole, and the Seventh Prince knows that if there is any further delay, You Shu will only die. Without the help of the palace attendants, he propped up his body, fell forward, and then grabbed the grass and stones with both hands, crawling forward bit by bit. His eyes turned red, his teeth were clenched, and his fingertips were bleeding due to the rough ground, but he still moved stubbornly and firmly. He never had a moment like this when he hated his incompetent self so much that he would rather give up his broken body than turn into a fierce ghost and pounce at that Ghost Mastiff.

He wants to save You Shu, even if he dies, he still wants to save You Shu! This belief made him extremely clear-headed, and he suddenly remembered that he heard shouts from Lao Ba’s courtyard a few days ago, as if they were calling “Devil King” or something like that. Yes, Devil King, this ghost mastiff should be called Devil King.

He patted the ground with his scarred hands and shouted, “Devil King, come here and bite me!”

“Your Highness!” Xiao Shunzi and the new eunuch exclaimed in unison, but were pushed back firmly. Amidst the panic, Concubine Hui walked slowly from the other side of the corridor after hearing the commotion.

Seeing her, the two of them were overjoyed and immediately shouted for help. But the result was unexpected. Concubine Hui turned a blind eye to this and walked up to the Eighth Prince. She stood next to him and looked into the distance with a gloomy and unpredictable gaze, without any intention of stopping him.

How could this be? The little eunuch was horrified and couldn’t help but look to the left. He saw that the ghost mastiff had already abandoned the puppy in the cave and went to attack the Seventh Prince. Since the Emperor had ordered him to protect His Highness the Seventh Prince, it was his responsibility even if his identity was exposed.

Just as he was about to shake away the two eunuchs who were suppressing him, he saw that the puppy hiding in the cave actually ran out, chasing after the ghost mastiff and biting its tails, drawing its(gm) attention back to itself(ys).

“You Shu, run quickly, don’t worry about me!” The Seventh Prince’s heart was about to break. His dirty cheeks were streaked with tears, looking both embarrassed and helpless.

How could You Shu abandon his master? After biting the ghost mastiff, he stood not far away and barked at it. The ghost mastiff looked left and right, but finally succumbed to his instinct to kill the prisoner and rushed towards the Seventh Prince lying on the ground.

Upon seeing this, You Shu hurriedly chased after it and bit its tail. He refused to let go even though its internal organs were shaken. Finally, the ghost mastiff changed its direction and started chasing its tail to kill the little dog.

The Seventh Prince was so angry that he slapped the ground repeatedly and shouted, “Come and bite me, come here!”

Seeing this scene, the Eighth Prince showed a cheerful smile, while Concubine Hui spoke up, “Alright, that’s enough, stop making trouble.”

The palace attendants, who were watching with cold eyes, seemed to have lifted their immobilisation technique and quickly started moving. Some went to lead the ghost mastiff, some helped the Seventh Prince, and some cleaned up the blood stains and broken nails on the lawn.

Within a moment, all the messy traces disappeared, as if nothing had happened before.

Yes, that’s it, she can just watch him die, it’s not a big deal. As Concubine Hui told herself this in her heart, her expression became even colder.

She pointed at the eunuch who was taming the ghost mastiff and said casually, “This servant neglected his duty and forgot to lock the iron cage, allowing the ghost mastiff to escape and hurt Lao Qi. It is an unforgivable crime. Someone come, take him out immediately and cane him to death! Anyone who chews their tongue outside about what happened today will end up with the same fate as him.”

The empress’ golden seal is in her hand, and all six palaces are under her control. If she says it is black, no one dares to say it’s white, and if she says it’s a deer, no one dares to say it’s a horse, power is indeed so charming.

The palace servants at the foot of the steps all kowtowed and whispered their promises. The new eunuch also kowtowed on the ground to hide his shocked expression. It turns out that Concubine Hui, who was said to be so caring for His Highness the Seventh Prince and even said she was willing to shorten her life by ten years in order to heal His Highness’s legs, actually harboured such a poisonous heart. Isn’t His Highness the Seventh Prince her own son?

The Seventh Prince no longer cared about Concubine Hui’s disregard for him. He just hugged You Shu in his arms who was stumbling over, and gently stroked the fur around his wound with trembling fingertips. He choked and scolded, “Fool! Didn’t I tell you to run farther away? Why did you come back?”

What will you do if I don’t come back? You Shu didn’t mind the dirty mess and carefully licked his master’s bloody fingertips with the tip of his tongue, many tears falling from his eyes in the blink of an eye.

One master and one pet hugged each other and cried silently, their hearts filled with panic and fear, but also with hatred as deep as the sea. The Seventh Prince unbuttoned his coat, covered the puppy tightly, and kept kissing the top of its head, treating it with a cherished attitude, feeling as if he had regained his treasure after being lost for a long time.

Feeling the slight trembling of the puppy’s body, his heart also trembled, twitching in agony. He looked at the Eighth Prince with his red eyes and said hoarsely, “Ji Yongye, this Palace will never let you go!” Between us, there will be no end without death!

The Eighth Prince had never seen the ruthless side of Lao Qi, and could not help but be suffocated by the cold aura of the other party. But soon, he laughed sarcastically, “Oh, really? This Palace will be waiting for you.” After saying that, he looked at the unconscious legs, his eyes full of contempt and ridicule.

The Seventh Prince waved to Xiao Shunzi, “Push me back,” and then pointed at the new eunuch, “You, go to the imperial hospital and ask for the imperial physician.”

The two of them immediately took the order. One pushed the people back to the palace, and the other went to call the imperial doctor before secretly rushing to the Qianqing Palace using the excuse of going to the toilet.

The imperial physician who usually treated Lao Qi had long been bribed by Concubine Hui. Even Emperor Jing’s imperial physician was from the Ouyang family, so she was not worried at all about the other party’s talkative behavior. She just called the Eighth Prince into the palace and scolded him harshly, but it was not because he wanted to harm his brother, but because his behavior was too reckless.

“Someone will naturally take care of this kind of thing for you, why should you dirty your own hands? If Lao Qi really dies, even if you put the entire blame on the eunuch who trained the dog, you will not be able to escape the responsibility of negligence, and will even arouse your father’s suspicion. Why don’t you use your brain?” Concubine Hui repeatedly poked her son’s forehead.

“Mufei, didn’t this son do it on impulse? Later, this son also realised it, and only intended to scare him. Mufei, this son was wrong, please help me clean up the mess. If there was no Mufei, what would this son do?” The Eighth Prince immediately hugged one of her arms, acting coquettishly and pretending to be obedient. He knew that what his mother liked the most was his closeness and dependence on her. This was the real reason why he surpassed Lao Qi.

In Shuangxue Palace, the hands of the Seventh Prince have been bandaged, and the imperial doctor was cutting off the hair on You Shu’s body to clean his wounds.

“Be careful, don’t hurt him!” The Seventh Prince gently held You Shu’s front paws and stared at the doctor’s movements for a moment.

“Didn’t this Palace ask you to be careful, don’t you understand? You Shu is trembling all over, he is in pain!” His temper was very bad right now. As long as You Shu trembled, one of his nerves would break. If it weren’t for his disabled legs, he definitely would have kicked this quack out.

The imperial doctor quickly knelt down and apologised, saying that he only knew how to treat people and didn’t know how to treat cats and dogs.

The Seventh Prince stared at him with a cold gaze, neither responding nor shouting. After a long time, he carefully held You Shu in his arms and pressed him against his cheek, while his other hand suddenly slapped the table, shouting in a low voice, “Get lost! Get away from this Palace and never appear in Shuangxue Palace again!”

Master, you are injured! You Shu, whose fur was cut to pieces, struggled quickly and wanted to pounce down to see his bleeding fist. The Seventh Prince immediately hid his hands in his sleeves and comforted him softly, “I’m fine, don’t worry.”

Finally, he ordered Xiao Shunzi, who was eager to try, “Come and treat You Shu’s injuries. You should have learned it before?” He couldn’t trust anyone in the imperial hospital, or anyone in Shuangxue Palace, so now he can only rely on this newcomer.

“Your Highness, this servant is best at treating illnesses and injuries of kittens and puppies. You Shu looked miserable, but it is just a flesh wound. He will be cured soon after applying some medicine.” Xiao Shunzi spoke as he took You Shu, treating the wound with ease.

Upon seeing that he was indeed capable, the Seventh Prince secretly breathed a sigh of relief. His face was filled with tenderness, but countless bloody and cruel thoughts flashed through his heart. He had never been so frustrated, helpless, or angry before. For a moment, he even wanted to kill someone.

He thought that when he really gains power one day, even if Ji Yongye’s skin is peeled off, his tendons are pulled, and his bones are crushed to ashes, it will still not be enough to eliminate the hatred of today.
