Chapter 93 – There’s A Beauty

Home/ There’s A Beauty / Chapter 93

The Eighth Prince was eventually rescued, but due to the poison being so violent, not only his legs were lost, but his lower body also became useless. In other words, he has just turned thirteen and his life came to an end. Most princes are precocious, and there are many who are obsessed with palace maids, but this is the first time for someone to end up like this.

When the courtiers thought of him, they would inevitably think of the Seventh Prince, and then they would all shake their heads and sigh. Both of them were obviously born from the same womb, so why is the gap so big? Fortunately, the Seventh Prince had already left Ganquan Palace, and his reputation was not affected.

Deng Chaoshan saw that Concubine Hui’s eyes were bright but her lips were slightly blue, so he also took her pulse and detected the same poison. Emperor Jing attached great importance to this matter and asked Deng Chaoshan to release the rumours that Lao Ba had caught the horse wind.

At the same time, he secretly carried out an investigation. He also used Lao Ba as bait to catch the person who poisoned him and traced the clues to the Empress Dowager, thus finding out about the shocking affair.

A month later, the Empress Dowager suddenly fell ill and died, and another month later, Duke Jing also passed away due to excessive worry.

A shocking scandal was quietly buried in the long river of history, and from beginning to end, Concubine Hui and Lao Ba couldn’t even figure out why they had incurred such a disaster.

However, Emperor Jing learned from the Empress Dowager that her affair with Duke Jing had been discovered by Lao Ba, which aroused their intention to silence and kill. Lao Ba had always been close to Concubine Hui, and nine out of ten, Concubine Hui also knew about it.

Except for a few confidants, Emperor Jing wished to kill all those who knew about it, but when it came to his wives, concubines, and heirs, he hesitated for a moment.

Emperor Jing didn’t go to confront Lao Ba, and even if he asked, he wouldn’t get a word of truth. Lao Ba would just blame it all on Lao Qi’s puppy like last time. If his jade pendant hadn’t fallen into the hands of the Empress Dowager, and if Lao Qi’s legs were fine, Lao Ba would probably have disguised himself as Lao Qi, wanting to kill him with a borrowed knife.

The ability of the Eighth Prince to kill even his closest relatives had already chilled Emperor Jing’s heart. Not to mention doting on him or reusing him, he felt disgusted if he took one more look at him. In addition, this scandal has become a thorn in his heart, wanting to pull it out but unable to do so.

After much contemplation, he made a decree to move Concubine Hui and the Eighth Prince to the Cold Spring Palace, where they would be imprisoned for life as the crazy concubine and son.

The beloved concubine of the previous generation declined like this, and when the Seventh Prince turned fourteen, he requested a decree to move outside the palace.

Two years later, Prince Duan’s Mansion.

The Seventh Prince was sitting on the porch, drinking tea and smiling at the puppy jumping around among the flowers. Xiao Shunzi and several eunuchs each guarded a position to prevent it from mischievously running away. The old ghost also followed Prince Duan out of the palace and was floating in the air, chattering nonchalantly.

“Don’t think about playing around all day and look for that witch instead of messing around. It’s been two years now, and even I’m in a hurry for you!”

You Shu stuck his head into the grass and sniffed, as if looking for something, revealing only a round butt and a short tail.

While wagging his tail, he said in a calm voice, “Don’t worry, I grabbed some hair of that little girl back then. With that, I can find them even if they run to the edge of the earth.”

“I think you just want to play.” The old ghost exposed him.

You Shu froze, and then as if nothing had happened, he took out the hydrangea ball that had fallen into the grass and ran towards his master. Putting the hydrangea ball three meters away from the master, he barked repeatedly, his dark eyes full of eager anticipation.

The Seventh Prince leaned over to look at him, with a gentle smile on the corners of his eyes and brows, “You want me to play with you with the hydrangea ball? Alright, give it to me.”

You Shu didn’t come forward, but ran further away with the hydrangea ball in his mouth, then squatted on the ground and continued barking. Seeing that his master still didn’t move, he threw the hydrangea ball directly under the steps, and it rolled away. He raised his front paw, pointed at the hydrangea, and then pointed at his master’s legs, his meaning very obvious.

The Seventh Prince laughed loudly, “Alright, you throw the hydrangea ball and I’ll pick it up. Are you happy with this?” Even if he is a prince and already has the power to govern the court, in front of his own pet, the seventh prince is just a dog slave.

Not only was he not embarrassed, he often felt that he wasn’t doing enough and tried his best to provide You Shu with a more comfortable life.

To avoid disturbing You Shu’s good sleep, he could stay in the same sleeping position all night long; To prevent You Shu from being a picky eater, he himself got used to bland dishes; Seeing You Shu always playing alone, wanting to have fun and run to his heart’s content, but not daring to leave because he was worried about his body, the Seventh Prince exercised desperately and tried to stand up again. Fortunately, his hard work paid off. In recent days, he has been able to slowly walk a certain distance with his crutches and the support of the wall.

You Shu squatted five meters away, waiting for his master. Afraid that he may fall, he kicked his hind legs, ready to run over at any time. He was happier than anyone else when he saw his master standing up again. His little tail swung so fiercely that even his entire buttocks began to wriggle. He endured it for a while, but finally couldn’t hold back anymore.

He ran to his master’s side while squirming his little body. When the master stopped to take a rest, he rubbed his calf with his furry head. After rubbing his left leg, he rubbed his right leg, going back and forth with joy while emitting a milky hum from his nose from time to time.

The Seventh Prince was so amused by him that the strength he had just used up was instantly restored. He dismissed the eunuch who came forward to support him, threw away the crutch in his hand, and supported himself with the help of the wall, saying, “You Shu, stop rubbing against me, be careful not to get under my feet.”

You Shu barked twice and hurriedly ran three meters away to wait. The master has just turned sixteen this year, but he has grown very tall, and his childish appearance has faded away. And because he has been involved in court affairs for two years, his handsome and gentle appearance exuded a bit of awe-inspiring aura. Now the master seems to have merged with the person he(ys) met for the first time, still struggling in adversity, but just as strong and courageous as before. His master will suffer setbacks, but he will never be defeated.

Thinking about the past and looking at the present, You Shu couldn’t help but feel mixed emotions.

Looking at You Shu’s adoring and eager gaze, the Seventh Prince’s heart felt hot. He quickly took two steps and gasped, “Little guy, do you think your master is very powerful? Just wait, I will be able to accompany you everywhere in a while, even to the end of the earth.”

You Shu was so happy that he even stuck out his tongue and ran forward to rub his master’s legs and feet again, leading him through the corridor and down to the grass. When he finally picked up the hydrangea ball, the Seventh Prince was so tired that he was sweating profusely, but he had a cheerful smile on his lips. He bent down and handed the hydrangea ball to You Shu, saying eagerly, “Come again.”

You Shu ran away with the hydrangea ball in his mouth. This time he squatted twenty metres away, looking at his master eagerly and barking twice from time to time, as if to encourage him.

The Seventh Prince moved step by step, and his dark eyes could only see the snow-white ball on the green lawn. If there was no You Shu in his life, he thought he would definitely live a terrible and chaotic life.

When he picked up the hydrangea ball again, he was pounced upon by You Shu. One master and one pet lay in the fragrant flowers, playing with each other, and then lay down quietly, watching the white clouds and birds in the sky together. If there were no government affairs, they could just lie down all day without feeling bored at all.

Feeling that the sun was too bright, the Seventh Prince lifted You Shu up to block the light, then slowly brought him closer. He kissed his grass-scented fleshy pad and wet nose, sighing, “You Shu, when will you transform? I’m already sixteen now.”

You Shu barked twice, thinking that it was indeed time to recover his human form.

Just at this moment, a guard walked over quickly and whispered, “Master, the emperor has summoned you to the palace to discuss political affairs.”

“This Prince understands.” The Seventh Prince kissed You Shu on the forehead, and then, with the help of two eunuchs, he got up and went back to the bedroom to change into the court uniform. The four-clawed golden dragon robe gave him a special kind of majesty. Even though his legs had been disabled for many years, his figure looked much taller and stronger than most princes.

Several aides were waiting by the side, slowly reporting on the court affairs, while he carefully dressed You Shu.

You Shu has a small box specially designed for his toys and clothes. That’s right, even if he turned into a dog, You Shu still had clothes to wear. All the precious fabrics rewarded by the palace were used by the Seventh Prince to make clothes for him. When he goes out, he will wear whatever the Seventh Prince wears, making sure that people can recognize him at a glance as the Seventh Prince’s treasure.

With everything neatly arranged, the Seventh Prince carried You Shu into the carriage. An aide who was accompanying him talked in a low voice, “Your Highness, when should you tell the Emperor that your legs have recovered?”

After leaving the Guangling palace, Prince Duan slowly began to make the arrangements, gathering all the people around him in less than two years. Therefore, unless he intends, the outside world will never know about all the big and small things in Prince Duan’s palace.

“This Prince will tell him, but not now. I have my own plans.” The Seventh Prince waved his hand and saw You Shu lying back in his arms, sleeping soundly. He quickly pulled out a specially made small blanket from the low table, gently covered him with it, and couldn’t help but pinch his soft front paws.

The aides around the Seventh Prince felt a bit uncomfortable when they first arrived, but now they are used to their master’s overly pampering attitude toward the puppy. In fact, as long as the puppy is regarded as a little prince, the sense of discord is not so heavy. Parents treat their children like this, but even so, the Seventh Prince is the type who pampers their children the most.

The aide deliberately lowered his voice and said, “Master, are you interested in that position? Now that all the princes have grown up, if you are not interested, you can choose someone to assist. If you are interested…”

The Seventh Prince waved his hands with an extremely unpredictable expression, “Let’s not mention this matter for now, I still need to think about it.”

The aide immediately stopped speaking. In silence, they arrived at the imperial palace, and several eunuchs immediately ran up to help the Seventh Prince lift the wheelchair, and then slowly pushed it towards the Jinluan Hall. The courtiers waiting outside the palace came forward to greet him. Because it was too noisy, it was inevitable that You Shu would wake up.

The Fourth Prince has also been conferred the title of prince, but his position in the court is far less stable than that of the Seventh Prince, so he has to step forward to win him over.

Seeing a little dog wearing a purple gold crown, a four-clawed dragon prince’s robe, a priceless blood-coloured warm jade around his neck, and the words “extravagant” written all over his body, the Fourth Prince sighed, “Seventh brother, this dog of yours is probably the luckiest dog in the world. In order to make him dress like you, you shamelessly asked the father for a decree. Looking at how you always hold it in your palms, you don’t look like a master, but more like its slave.”

“As long as You Shu is happy, this Prince doesn’t mind.” The Seventh Prince laughed loudly, showing off his dog-slave attitude.

“You, you, actually value dogs more than people. How are you going to get along with the princess after the wedding? Would you really let her compete with a puppy for favor?”

The Seventh Prince supported his forehead, thinking that even with a thousand defenses in his heart, he still couldn’t prevent the news from leaking out. Just let it be, I might as well just take this opportunity to see You Shu’s reaction.

You Shu’s reaction was shock, no, it was extreme shock, and for a while, he stood there foolishly before barking at his master. If you want to leave me and marry another woman, not to mention a door, there’s not even a window. While barking, he scratched his master’s arm with his claws, his small appearance looking very fierce.
