Chapter 85 (Part 1) – There’s A Beauty

Home/ There’s A Beauty / Chapter 85 (Part 1)

You Shu and Emperor Xuanguang died on the same day. After their souls left their bodies, they were preparing to go to the underworld together, but suddenly, a strange phenomenon erupted in the sky.

The sky was filled with stars dragging their slender tails as they fell, and the scene was like a waterfall flowing down the Milky Way, stunningly beautiful, yet frightening.

“It turns out that the legendary scene of the fall of heaven looks like this.” Emperor Xuanguang looked up with a solemn expression. Then he pulled his lover into his arms and warned, “I don’t know if I can send you safely back to your world, but if you stay here, you will surely die. Live well and don’t miss me.”

You Shu was greatly shocked and was about to escape from his confinement, but his forehead was firmly pressed down by the other party. Then a surging force poured into his soul, causing him to constantly solidify and shine brightly. When the entire world was collapsing, only this ray of light broke through the layers of undercurrents and slid towards a vaster and broader sky.

A flash of purple light suddenly appeared in the alley of a bustling town. When the light faded, a young man with dishevelled long hair, messy clothes, and tears on his cheeks appeared out of thin air. He looked around with a panicked expression, and seeing that this place seemed to be a deep alley, he quickly ran towards the place where there were a lot of people.

“Fall of the heaven?”, “Sending you back to your world?”, “If you stay here, you will surely die?” He recalled these words over and over in his mind, and an ominous premonition emerged in his heart.

He quickly ran to the entrance of the alley, only to see that the pedestrians on the road were still wearing ancient clothes and had long hair, while the buildings along the street were all low and unique, not the high-rise buildings and dilapidated ruins in the apocalypse. Didn’t go back! His nerves suddenly relaxed, and he almost fainted, forcing himself to hold on to the wall beside him for support.

“Little brother, are you okay? Do you want to come in and sit down for a while?” A kind-looking old woman approached and asked.

You Shu followed his fingertips and found that she was pointing towards a teahouse on the roadside, so he nodded quickly. He must find out as soon as possible where this place is and what dynasty it belongs to, and how long has it been since the Xuanguang era in Dayong, so that he can find his master quickly.

Subconsciously, he didn’t dare to think about whether his master, who had given all his spiritual power to himself, could survive safely. But his master is Zi Wei Emperor Star, so he should be fine.

As he repeatedly calmed down the despair and fear in his heart, the old woman took him to the backyard, brought a basin of well water, and persuaded him, “Little brother, look at your dirty body, wash it off quickly.”

You Shu blankly agreed and looked into the basin, only to find a young and beautiful face reflected on the water surface. It was him from when he was sixteen years old. In order to protect him from being shattered by the aftermath of the falling stars, his master transferred all of his spiritual power to help him condense his physical body.

What’s the use of having this body if he can no longer find his master? It’s better to be annihilated and turned into ashes! The more he thought about it, the more sad he became. He held onto the edge of the basin with both hands and began to sob. Tears as big as golden beans fell into the water, creating ripples in circles.

The old woman saw him crying and patted him on the shoulder, asking in a low voice, “Little brother, what’s wrong with you? Are you separated from your family?”

“I got lost, but I’m still looking. I will find it, I will definitely find it.” You Shu cried until he was out of breath, but his gaze became increasingly firm.

The old woman echoed in unison, waiting for him to tidy up before leading him into the house, saying that she was going to prepare a meal. A girl of five or six years hid under the windowsill and secretly looked at him, her eyes filled with curiosity and a hint of excitement. She walked in with small steps and said innocently, ‘You look so beautiful, like a painting!’!”

The scene of him crying was actually seen by a child. You Shu was a bit embarrassed and called out to her, “I am not as beautiful as you. Come here, brother has something to ask you.”

Because the clothes on his body were condensed with spiritual power, he didn’t have any belongings with him, so he had to use the silk thread in the bamboo basket to weave a Chinese knot and give it to the little girl, saying something casually. He soon learned from the other party that this was the capital of the Dayan Kingdom. But the girl had no idea what year it was, or what dynasties existed before the Dayan Kingdom.

You Shu wanted to find some history books to read, but he had no money, so he had to hold back for the time being. Seeing the old woman coming in with a lot of home-cooked dishes, he quickly arched his hands and said, “Thank you for your kindness for taking me in just now. I’ll take my leave now.”

“Why don’t you leave after eating?” The old woman quickly stopped him.

“But I didn’t bring any money with me, so how could I eat for free?” You Shu looked embarrassed.

“Hah, a meal is nothing! Come here, come here, don’t be polite to me.” The old woman stretched out her hand to pull him, and the little girl also hugged his legs and tried to hold him back.

You Shu couldn’t resist and had to stay. He thought he would make money in the future and repay today’s kindness. Unexpectedly, just after taking a few bites of food, he felt itchy all over his body and his bones ached terribly. Then his body slowly contracted, turning into a snow-white puppy, only the size of a palm. He looked down at his short front paws and then at the unattainable dining table, filled with shock and disbelief.

But the two people in front were also very surprised. The old woman picked up the puppy from the chair and murmured, “How could it turn into a puppy? I have been turning people into livestock for many years, but I have never made a dog!”

“Grandma, show me quickly, show me quickly, he looked so handsome, even the animal he transformed into is different from others.” The little girl jumped up and touched the puppy.

Turning people into livestock? Livestock farming? You Shu finally understood what kind of situation he had encountered. The so-called livestock farming is a kind of witchcraft that can turn people into livestock and then sell them.

Despite his numerous precautions, he failed to guard against the old, weak, women, and children. After three lifetimes, he had indeed forgotten the life-saving rule of the apocalypse: Never underestimate the elderly and children.

What’s even worse is that he only knows about this kind of witchcraft but has no idea how to break it, which means that he can only sit back and wait for death now. If he had turned into an animal like a cow, horse, or sheep, he could at least run away for his life, right? However, what should he do if turn into a little milk dog as big as a palm?

You Shu, who was pinched by the old woman on the back of his neck, looked frustrated, but the next moment his anger surged even more. He heard the old woman sigh, “What good is this milk dog? Why don’t we change him back and sell him to a brothel?”

“No, no, please let it stay. I’ll take care of it!” The little girl pulled on the old woman’s clothes and acted coquettishly.

As the two were discussing, a shout came from outside, “Grandma Sun, Grandma Sun? Give me a pot of Longjing tea!”

The old woman threw You Shu into her granddaughter’s arms and hurriedly went out to welcome the guests. The little girl finally got her wish and was very happy. She held You Shu in her arms and ran out to play. Poor You Shu was knocked dizzy and he could only kick his short legs weakly, unable to even scream.

Several young men in formal attire were sitting outside chatting, each with a white face and soft voices, clearly eunuchs from the palace. This teahouse is very close to the palace gate, and eunuchs and maids who have finished their errands often sit here to wait for their companions who have not yet returned.

Although the old woman possessed witchcraft, she didn’t dare to provoke the people in the palace and got busy preparing tea and snacks for the people.

The little girl squatted in the corner, poking You Shu’s butt with a wooden stick, shouting “dog, dog, dog” in her mouth. If You Shu tries to run away, she would slap him down and rub him hard several times. After trying several times, You Shu finally gave up and lay on the ground helplessly, with a whimpering and mournful sound emanating from his nose.

An eunuch, who was attracted by the sound, came closer to take a look, and his expression immediately changed, “Grandma Sun, this dog isn’t yours, is it?”

“The neighbour’s dog has given birth to puppies. So they gave me one.”

“Nonsense!” The eunuch suddenly shouted, startling everyone.

The old woman quickly lowered her head to hide her frightened expression. She only knows the magic of livestock farming, and has no ability to protect herself. If she offended the palace people, she would definitely be skinned and cramped.

“What’s the matter?” The other people immediately gathered around and saw You Shu whining on the ground. They were also very surprised, saying, “This puppy is so cute, and its fur is also very pure. It seems, it seems…”

They all run various errands in the Cat and Dog House, and can easily distinguish all the expensive cats and dogs in Dayan Kingdom at a glance.

The leader carefully picked up You Shu, and looked at his eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. He rubbed his belly and little paws, exclaiming, “This is actually a Zangxiu dog(Tibetan spaniel), and it is a rare breed with variation in fur colour. Ordinary Zangxiu dogs are mostly black and brown, but this one is completely snow-white without a single flaw, which is really rare in the world!”

After confirming You Shu’s “noble pedigree”, the eunuch looked at the old woman and asked, “Grandma Sun, this Zangxiu dog is a tribute from Tibet. Even the nobles in the palace cannot get it. How can you, a commoner, have it? Where did you steal it from?”

The hat of “stealing tribute” was already being pressed down on her head, and if the crime was confirmed, being skinned would be considered minor, instead she might be sentenced to death with a thousand cuts. However, the old woman could not change the person back, so she quickly picked up her granddaughter and threw her hands, disappearing in a puff of black smoke.

Several eunuchs were stunned for a while before they hurriedly went to report to the court, and then brought the pure white Zangxiu dog into the palace.

At first, You Shu felt unlucky, but he was secretly glad upon learning that he was of a “noble and extraordinary” breed. If not for this rare identity, sooner or later he would be maimed by that little girl, or even killed after she got tired of playing with him. Children who grow up in the hands of those kinds of witches have no idea what it means to be human and compassionate.

Cat and Dog House, like human society, also have a distinction between high and low status. Although there are rare and precious breeds present in the market, there is a huge difference between tributes and non-tributes, as well as natural differences in fur color and temperament. You Shu is not only a tribute, but also has a pure and rare fur color, along with a docile and obedient temperament, making him one of the best among the best.

The chief eunuch of the cat and dog house quickly reported the matter to the emperor, so that the concubines in the palace wouldn’t take a fancy to this Zangxiu dog, making it difficult for him to live.
