You Shu felt a cool breath slowly travelling along the top of his hair, cheeks, and neck, and he couldn’t help but get goosebumps all over his body. Especially when the water droplets on his hair fell onto the shoulders, it seemed as if an ice bead had fallen, making him shiver. He quickly took a ladle of water and poured it down on his head, which made him feel better.

Lord Yama smiled silently, and after kissing his left shoulder, he switched to his right shoulder. Wherever the water droplets on his hair fell, a cold sensation would be left there. This was his favourite game, and he enjoyed this moment very much, a bit hidden and a bit joyful. But he also wouldn’t let Magistrate Xiao Zhao freeze, using magic to heat the water when it was almost cold.

You Shu felt a chill all over his body, so he had to pour water over his head one ladle after another, and then a series of cold water droplets fell on his skin. Fortunately, the temperature of the water in the bucket was suitable and will quickly drive away the cold air, thus eliminating the risk of catching a cold. He soaked for about three-quarters of an hour, then reached for the bath towel placed on the edge of the tub, but accidentally knocked it to the ground.

“Why did it fall again?” He murmured to himself while leaning down to pick it up. The tub was very high, so when he bent down, he had to stand on tiptoes and raise his buttocks high, exposing his private parts.

But the culprit who actually knocked off the bath towel stood behind him, staring at his smooth back and perky buttocks with deep and unpredictable eyes. His fingertips were suspended above his round mounds, slowly outlining those alluring curves, and then moving along the spine before stopping at the neck.

Lord Yama opened his five fingers as if he wanted to grip the man’s neck and drag him into his arms to kiss wildly, but in the end, he restrained himself. He walked back to the window again and waited for his hot body and heart to calm down. When County Magistrate Xiao Zhao climbed into bed and was ready to fall asleep, he lifted his invisibility spell and naturally leaned against him.

You Shu had become accustomed to the other party’s elusiveness, so when he found that there was suddenly an extra person beside him, he didn’t even frown, but instead felt very relieved. He gathered up the quilt, said good night silently, and then fell asleep.

The man waited for a moment before kissing his smooth forehead and saying good night in a low voice. He doesn’t need sleep, he can watch over this person all night, help him tuck the quilt, chase away mosquitoes, and wait for the dawn with satisfaction.

The next day, You Shu set off with the landlord Cai and arrived in the capital at noon. Seeing that the city gate was only ten metres ahead, Lord Yama patted Magistrate Xiao Zhao’s soft hair and disappeared into the thin air.

“Sure enough, the other party specifically came to escort me.” Although he had guessed it a long time ago, at the moment of real confirmation, You Shu still felt deeply moved in his heart. He climbed onto the shaft of the carriage and looked at the majestic city tower, full of expectations for this trip.

Perhaps the master is inside, and he will be able to see him soon, provided that he is transferred to a high official post that allows him to go to the court. However, this opportunity is somewhat slim, but it’s not entirely hopeless. Thinking like this, You Shu clenched his fists with a determined expression.

After checking the road signs and submitting the entrance fee, You Shu and his group were allowed in. Landlord Cai sincerely invited Magistrate Xiao Zhao to temporarily stay at his home, saying that the rent in the capital is very expensive, and even the simplest courtyard would cost about seventy or eighty taels of silver a year.

You Shu didn’t want to bother anyone, so he waved his hand and refused. It’s very easy for him to rent a cheap house. He just needs to walk around the capital and look for places that are particularly haunted. Ten taels of silver would be more than enough for a year’s rent for that kind of house.

Landlord Cai refused to let him go and immediately came forward to pull him away. At this moment, a middle-aged man with a thin body and dark skin slowly ran over. He looked very anxious, but his legs and feet could not be lifted at all, and his body staggered even more as if he was about to fall at any time. When he was just about ten metres away, he was already panting like a cow, sweating profusely, and looking exhausted as he approached.

“Please, please stay! Are you Zhao Youshu?”

“Who are you?” You Shu looked at him fixedly and felt that this person looked very familiar. He immediately searched through the memory of “Zhao Youshu” and suddenly realised. Isn’t this the second uncle who robbed “Zhao Youshu” of his family property? Why is he so thin now? I remember that when “Zhao Youshu” left the capital to take office, he was still very round and strong. Now, only a year and a half has passed, and he doesn’t look like a human at all.

“I am your second uncle! You Shu, hurry up, go back with your second uncle. There is a banquet waiting for you at home!” The man said as he went to drag someone away, afraid that the other person would run away.

“Second Uncle, long time no see.” You Shu, after experiencing so much wind and rain, had a much gentler temper and slightly bowed his hand, without mentioning their past grievances.

When landlord Cai saw that the visitor was really a relative of Magistrate Xiao Zhao, he had no choice but to bid farewell with regret.

You Shu noticed that the second uncle’s appearance looked strange, so he forced his mental strength into his eyes and took a closer look, and was shocked. The other party wore a huge set of shackles around their neck, as well as shackles on their wrists, ankles, and other parts, resembling prisoners. No wonder he was panting and very tired after taking a few steps.

This is obviously a method used by Lord Yama to deal with the living souls who have done evil. Could it be that he came to pick me up today because he received instructions from Lord Yama? Thinking about it this way, You Shu wasn’t worried that this second uncle would harm himself, so he followed. 

He didn’t tell anyone about his return to the capital to report on his duties, and logically speaking, no one should come to the city gate to greet him or even entertain him with a banquet, indicating that this second uncle had already received the news.

As for where this news came from, it’s probably the underworld, right? Anyway, I’ll know after I go there.

The two of them walked around, panting, and finally arrived at a courtyard with three entrances. This was originally the home of “Zhao Youshu”. After his parents died, his second uncle took it over. They also drugged him, causing him to suffer from a serious illness. 

“Zhao Youshu” was sent to his hometown in the countryside, supported by his second uncle in a fair and upright manner, which made him live a miserable life. If it weren’t for the kind-hearted nature of the people there, who didn’t just look on coldly from far away, he would have starved to death long ago.

Looking up at the plaque with the words “Zhao Mansion” written on it, You Shu felt a burst of sadness even though he hadn’t personally experienced the happy and prosperous childhood of “Zhao Youshu”. He stood at the door and stared for a long time before walking in at the urging of his second uncle. As soon as he walked around the second door, he saw an equally thin middle-aged woman staggering towards himself.

Observing the other party’s heavy steps and the pained expression covered with beads of sweat, You Shu knew that she was also wearing shackles on her body without using any mental power to detect.

“Nephew, you’ve finally returned. Please come in quickly. There is a banquet waiting for you in the house.” The woman said urgently.

You Shu nodded and walked in slowly, only to see a young man five or six years older than himself sitting at the table with a pale face. This person is the only legitimate son of the second uncle, Zhao Youcai, the cousin of “Zhao Youshu”. The second house seized the big house’s property just to buy an official position for him.

Before “Zhao Youshu” won the top spot in the exam, his second uncle had already donated money to a fifth-grade official he could come in contact with, and the amount of silver was estimated to be between 70,000 and 80,000 taels. 

However, the second house had a commoner background, with no land or pavement to make a living, and their life was very tight, so how could they save tens of thousands of taels? They must have plundered the family property of the big house.

At that time, although “Zhao Youshu” won the top spot, he only got the post of a seventh-rank county magistrate. He had no money or connections, so he couldn’t compete with his cousin who had got the fifth rank post, so he had to bear the humiliation and take up the office.

The once high-spirited cousin now looked like a defeated rooster, showing a dispirited and indignant look. How could You Shu not be confused? He used his mental power to check and saw that the shackles worn by the other party were even heavier and bigger than the parents, roughly estimated to be at least one to two hundred kilograms.  

No wonder he was lying on the table with his head and shoulders slumped. It turned out that it’s not because he didn’t mean to show off to his cousin, but that he couldn’t walk at all.

Seeing You Shu arriving as expected, his gaze flickered slightly and the veins on his forehead jumped, as if very frightened.

“You really entered the city today.” The words were spoken in a low voice, but You Shu still caught it. It seemed that someone had indeed informed them of his itinerary, and they had no choice but to go and greet him.

Think about it, after taking away people’s property, would you be willing to let them wander around under your nose? Wouldn’t you want to get rid of them quickly? But this family came to look for him in a hurry. Even if someone told him that there is no trick here, You Shu wouldn’t believe it. Considering the shackles on these people, it was obvious who the person behind the scenes was.

You Shu believed that the other party would not harm himself, so he came unprepared. After sitting down, he cupped his hands and said, “I’ve met my cousin.”

“Just come back, take your property back, and write me a letter of reconciliation. Forget everything about the past, we won’t have any contact with each other until death.” Zhao Youcai said directly.

You Shu lowered his eyes, thinking that his thoughts turned out to be true.
