Home/ There’s A Beauty / Chapter 54 (Part 1)
The Ninth Prince talked with Emperor Zhongkang for a while, and returned to the Eastern Palace after receiving the imperial edict to transfer Zhao Zhizhou to the ministry of household.
Before leaving the door, Emperor Zhongkang suddenly asked him, “Son, have you found the person in your dream?”
“I found him.” The Ninth Prince nodded firmly, with an unprecedented peaceful expression on his handsome face. He finally understood that no matter how much he resisted, fate was fate.
“There are so many ‘You Shu’ in the Kyushu and Five Kingdoms, but he is actually the son of Zhao Zhizhou?” Emperor Zhongkang became interested and asked, “What does he look like? Is he truly so beautiful and peerless?” Since he was a child, he was really curious about the person in that legendary and tragic love story, the young man who was loved by the Overlord more than his own life. The portrait that has been touched to the point of fading naturally had his share of the credit.
The Ninth Prince smiled and said frankly, “I don’t know if he is a peerless beauty in the eyes of everyone else, but in your son’s heart, he is naturally unparalleled.”
Beauty is in the eye of a beholder, Emperor Zhongkang understood, and waved his hand while saying, “Bring him into the palace some other day and let me have a look.”
“I will see you tomorrow. I have already removed Zhao Yusong and replaced him with You Shu as my reading companion. He is a bit timid, so father should treat him better.” The Ninth Prince explained carefully.
Emperor Zhongkang couldn’t laugh or cry, and thought that his son had forgotten his father when he got a wife, and drove him away angrily. For the fact that his son would fall in love with the same sex, he had been mentally prepared a long time ago. Previously, he had secretly searched for a boy named ‘You Shu’ among the people so that he could bring him into the palace to be raised. In this way, his son wouldn’t have to suffer from nightmares every day, and his temper won’t become more and more violent but unfortunately he couldn’t find him.
But seeing that his son was already seventeen years old and You Shu hadn’t been found yet, he thought that his son would die alone again in this life. Fortunately, God had eyes and brought him the person who had disappeared for more than six hundred years.
“Zhao Youshu? I will meet this legendary young man tomorrow.” Emperor Zhongkang smiled lowly while holding his forehead.
The Ninth Prince returned to the Eastern Palace, and immediately spread out the picture scroll that You Shu gave him carefully on the table, he lowered his eyes to admire it, and ordered after a while, “Bring the brush and ink.”
The palace maids and eunuchs standing on both sides immediately prepared the brush, ink, paper and inkstone. The Ninth Prince did not draw on the painting this time, but replaced it with a piece of pure white rice paper to restore the beautiful scene in the dream last night frame by frame. He already has a solid foundation, and he can vividly recall all the scenes. It took only half an hour to draw seven or eight lifelike sketches, and he also mixed some colored inks to outline the boy’s cloud like black hair, jade white body, spotted red marks, slightly pink eye corners and the blood like red lips one by one.
With a surge of emotions in his heart, he looked at the picture on his desk, and suddenly his cheeks flushed, smoke came out from the top of his head, and his lower body had a violent reaction. He immediately stroked the hem of his clothes, trying to calm it down, but suddenly found that there were many red dots on the painting under his eyes.
He was still in a daze when the palace maid beside him exclaimed, “Your Highness is sick again, he has a nosebleed! This servant will go and bring the imperial doctor!” After she left in a hurry, several eunuchs stepped forward to clean up the nosebleed for His Highness.
The Ninth Prince quickly covered the painting with a blank rice paper, squeezed his nose tightly, and said in a low voice, “What are you making a fuss about, it’s just heavy internal fire, it will be fine after drinking herbal tea for a few times. Go and call that palace maid back just now, don’t make the palace restless in the middle of the night.”
Don’t you love to make a fuss in the palace? Usually, if there is nothing to do, you have to do a few things to vent your frustration. How did it change today? Although the eunuch had doubts in his heart, he didn’t dare to disobey the order, and hurriedly chased after that palace maid.
The Ninth Prince twisted a wet handkerchief by himself, cleaned his nose, took a quick shower, and was about to go to bed. He rolled up the paintings one by one, stuffed them into the curtain, found many clips, and hung them on the top, so that they could be seen as soon as he lay down.
Last night, he still slept very restlessly, but it was not because of the nightmares, but because of the waves of passion that came one after another. For the first time in his life, he hoped to be immersed in a dream forever without waking up, and it was also the first time that what he felt after waking up was not fear or hesitation, but lingering desire and nostalgia.
If one day this dream can become a reality, let alone to keep him from sleeping peacefully every night, it will be a pleasure to die in You Shu’s body. Thinking of this, the Ninth Prince covered his flushed cheeks and smiled foolishly. The current him is not aloof and arrogant, but a young man troubled by love. His life, which was originally colorless without any taste, is now full of bright colors and sweetness.
Tonight, instead of dawdling and refusing to get on the bed, he hid in the sleeping chamber before the hour came, preparing to create another beautiful dream. However, the more he stared at the painting, the hotter his body became, and his lower body was full of energy that couldn’t be dispelled, so he had to cover his face and imagine wildly, and accidentally remembered the kiss that You Shu stole. Immediately his emotions surged, and his mood was hard to calm down.
At the same time, You Shu was catching fireflies with a few servants in the yard. There was a glass bottle tied around his waist, which was shining with fluorescent light bit by bit, looking like a strange lantern. When her son was playful, Mrs. Wang didn’t stop him, and stood under the corridor to point the way for her son, “Shu’er, look at the other side of the sweet-scented osmanthus tree, there are a lot of them.”
You Shu nodded, walked over and tapped lightly among the treetops with a bamboo pole. Sure enough, many green fireflies flew away, flickering and extinguishing, and the fleeting light with shadows looked so beautiful.
Mrs. Wang and the servants were dumbfounded, but You Shu suddenly became vigilant. He felt dozens of unfamiliar breaths suddenly appearing in the yard, guarding every main path one by one. This feeling was very similar to those hidden guards who followed the master in the previous life.
Could they be sent by the master? He secretly guessed, and went to catch the fireflies again. The little ghost who was previously gathered by him immediately reported back the news of a stranger’s invasion, and added, “My lord, a woman named ‘You Shu’ came to the east courtyard. She is a bit strange. You must be careful.”
Could this woman named ‘You Shu’ be the “zombie” during the day? You Shu suddenly became nervous. He knew that there should be no zombies in this world, and the woman was probably a monster. Monsters are thousands of times more difficult to deal with than ghosts, and You Shu has never encountered them before, so he only has a little experience.
Although he has read a lot of books about catching monsters and ghosts, he doesn’t have much confidence in implementing it. What’s more important is that he hasn’t figured out the true form of that zombie until now, so he doesn’t know her weakness.
“Do you know where she came from?” He used his mental power to communicate with the little ghost.
“I don’t know. She has a fierce aura on her body, and she can see ghosts. Even if I was several feet away, I could feel a great threat from her, so I didn’t dare to approach her.” The little ghost looked ashamed. He has been practising Taoism for nearly a hundred years, but he is still afraid of a woman, which shows that women are not simple.
You Shu silently waved his hand to show that he knew. Zombies, mutated plants, and mutated beasts were everywhere in the last days. He has long been used to it, even an unknown monster can’t scare him. He will just deal with it when the time comes.
Thinking about it this way, he continued to catch fireflies leisurely, and finally collected two big jars before taking them back to the house, and waved in a direction, “Come down.”
There was no movement for a long time, so he took out a piece of rice paper, wrote a few words slowly, and said, “Come down, I have something I want to give to your master overnight.” The concealment technique of these guards is very familiar as if it came from six hundred years ago, he doesn’t know how the master preserved these forces.
A little dust fell on the beam, and a man in black appeared in the room in the blink of an eye, half kneeling and saluting, but did not speak.
It really is the master’s hand. Six hundred years ago he thought it was surveillance, but now he understood that it is actually a kind of protection. You Shu originally thought that no one would love him, but suddenly looking back, he realized that he was loved so deeply. There was a small stabbing pain in his heart, he stroked his chest, then rubbed his sore nose, and said in a muffled voice, “Tell your master to sleep well.”
The man in black responded hurriedly, took the jar and the note and fled into the night. You Shu stood by the window and watched for a long time, then went out, set up several protective formations at the door of Mrs. Wang and Zhao Zhizhou’s room, and set up a warning formation at the door of his own room. He then sat by the candlelight and waited.
In the Eastern Palace, the Ninth Prince was still staring at the paintings, while tossing and turning in his bed, when he heard slight footsteps outside, he immediately opened the curtain and sat up.
“Why are you back?” He asked in a deep voice.
“My lord, Young Master Zhao had ordered this subordinate to deliver some things to you.” The man in black respectfully handed over the things in his hand, and was about to raise his head when he heard a lazy whisper from above, “It’s best not to see things that shouldn’t be seen.”
The man in black froze in his heart, and hurriedly lowered his head even more, he didn’t realize that there were many lingering scrolls clipped on the curtain of the Ninth Prince’s sleeping chamber.
The Ninth Prince was still a little surprised and displeased, but after seeing the contents of the jar and the note, he was full of joy. He held the jar like a child and refused to let go. He read the note again and again, as if he was about to burn a hole in it with his scorching eyes.
“My ability is limited and I cannot pick the stars in the sky. I can only give you the fireflies on the ground and hope you will sleep peacefully and be healthy in the future. Additionally, fireflies only have a lifespan of five days. Let them go after seeing them for a day or two. And there will be more beautiful scenery in the coming year——You Shu.”
There were only three or two sentences written on the note, and the words written were very ordinary, but it made the Ninth Prince’s heart warm. He folded the note carefully, stuffed it into his purse, and pressed it under the pillow. His voice was unknowingly softer, “Only these two things? Nothing more?”
The man in black thought for a while, and said, “Young master said that he wants you to sleep well.”
“Okay, I’ll go to bed now. When you go back, tell him that I’m already lying down, and he should sleep early too.” The Ninth Prince immediately turned around and got on the bed. He was never so obedient even in front of Emperor Zhongkang. As the guard was about to leave, he suddenly asked, “How did he find you? Did he express any dissatisfaction?”
The man in black cupped his hands, “I don’t know how the young master found us, but he didn’t show any dissatisfaction.”
It is good if he is not dissatisfied. Only then did the Ninth Prince feel completely relieved, and waved the person away. As for how You Shu discovered the hidden guards, it didn’t matter. He covered the curtain carefully, opened the jar, and released the fireflies. The bright green and speckled spots danced and circled within the bright yellow curtain for a moment, fell on the hair, and stopped on the scroll, setting off a sweltering night like a fantasy.
The Ninth Prince always thought that last night was the most beautiful scene he had ever experienced, but only now did he realize that there was something even more beautiful waiting forward. As You Shu said in his letter – there will be more beautiful scenery in the coming years. As long as You Shu is by his side, there will always be more beautiful and magnificent scenery.
As he looked at the beautiful scenery, his restless mood and surging emotions slowly calmed down, closing his eyelids unconsciously, he fell into a deep sleep, and there was an extremely rare smile on the corner of his mouth.
