Chapter 162 – Devil

Home/ Devil / Chapter 162

The dinner prepared by Ji Huan today can truly be considered luxurious!

It was rare for him to get a good sleep.

Hei Dan was taken away by Ah Jin, and Grandpa also went out with Naji and the others. He was the only one left in the house quietly, and he didn’t feel lonely because he knew they were all safe.

Perhaps it was because he drank too much alcohol that he slept too soundly, with the smell of wine and… the smell of Ah Jin.

Something uncontrollable happened, and he didn’t know who to talk to. Fortunately, Ah Jin left for the time being, and Grandpa was not here either, so he could sort out his mood alone.

He thought he might dream about Ah Jin, or yesterday’s “dream”, but in fact he didn’t dream about anything.

After waking up, he stayed in bed for a long time. He rarely slept at this time, and when he found that it was still bright outside the window, he felt a little confused for a moment, but he quickly remembered what happened before he fell asleep.

After flipping over a few times in bed, his hand suddenly hit a hard object between the two pillows on the bed. When he pulled it out, it turned out to be a watch, called a “timepiece” here. It’s a very thin style with meticulous craftsmanship, and it looks very expensive—it obviously belongs to Ah Jin.

What’s more, the smell coming from the watch was very familiar—it’s the fragrance on Ah Jin’s body.

Unlike other men, Ah Jin always had a scent on his body. He couldn’t tell what kind of smell it was, but it smelled very good.

No wonder he always felt that Ah Jin was beside him when he was sleeping. It turned out that Ah Jin had put this watch here.

With his fingers trembling slightly, he gently put the watch in place before getting up.

Ah Jin had finished all the work in the garden. He had checked it before, and there was really no need to tidy it up any more. He took back the clothes hanging outside and folded them.

While folding the clothes, Ji Huan discovered the holes in Hei Dan’s underpants and the back of Grandpa’s shirt. He immediately sewed up the holes with familiarity.

However, there was also a tear on Ah Jin’s shirt. The tear was not large, neat and fresh. It was probably caused by him taking off his clothes too roughly.

Without thinking much, Ji Huan also sewed it up with the needle and thread.

Although he used the same color of thread, there were still traces of stitching. Without thinking too much about whether the other party would wear a patched shirt, he immediately discovered a new problem:

Grandpa and Hei Dan’s clothes were easy to deal with, but Ah Jin’s clothes were not too easy to handle.

Although he was very careful when washing, there were still some wrinkles on the washed clothes.

There’s no such thing as an iron in this house— their family didn’t need it. But Ah Jin’s clothes clearly needed it. After thinking about it, Ji Huan went to boil a pot of hot water, found a flat place to spread Ah Jin’s clothes, and then carefully sprayed some hot water on it. He then spread a layer of towels on top of those clothes and put the bottom of the hot water bottle on it, moving it carefully little by little. In this way, Ah Jin’s clothes were ironed by him using this simple “hot water kettle iron”.

Then he found a hanger and put Ah Jin’s clothes on it, then hung them up. Seeing those clothes, he suddenly felt like seeing Ah Jin.

Without looking further, he lightly touched the kettle. After finding that the temperature was still very high, his eyes fell on Hei Dan’s pants.

The corner of his mouth curled up slightly, and he simply ironed Hei Dan’s pants in the same way.

The soft little pants immediately straightened up, looking at…cough, quite pleased.

The clothes were quickly taken care of, and the water in the hot kettle was not wasted. Ji Huan found a teapot, then took a cup and found the “barley tea” that he had previously made with local grains. He made a pot of tea for himself.

Then he walked upstairs to the study room with the tea set.

Before Grandpa and the others came back, Ji Huan decided to relax: he wanted to read for a while.

There were many books left in this study room, and they were also very miscellaneous. Ji Huan searched on the bookshelf, and his eyes suddenly fell on a thin book at the top.

The name of the book is: “Architecture – The Making of Magic Foundation”

When a familiar word suddenly transformed into text and appeared in front of Ji Huan’s eyes, he did not connect the two at first. However, he instinctively took down the book, dusted it off, and sat at the desk in front of the window before slowly opening the pages.

The architecture of the magic foundation is completely different from the architecture he knew about.

Similar to how ancient Chinese people liked to place stone beasts to guard their houses at the door, or put carvings of divine beasts on the roof ridges for protection, the demons here also have the habit of using items to “guard” when building houses.

Their method is more brutal: instead of using images carved from stone or wood, they use the corpses of monsters or demons.

Kill monsters or demons on the spot and sink their bodies into the ground through some rituals. The “breath” of these monsters or demons will be preserved, and stronger the “breath” left by the monster or the demon, the more powerful and long-lasting the foundation will be.

These “breaths” will form a “protective shield” just like the “breath” on living monsters or demons. Monsters and demons are very sensitive to this “protective shield” and they will instinctively compare it to the breath on their bodies.

Regardless of whether the “breath” attached to the “protective shield” is stronger or weaker, a powerful “magic foundation” is enough to bring a terrifying sense of oppression to the monsters and demons passing by, just like when it was alive.

This is more effective than any other lock. Even if a house with a powerful demon base has been unoccupied for many years, it won’t be easy for people to invade until the “breath” of the “magic foundation” disappears.

The book also discusses some common methods for making magic keys later on.

However, all the examples are related to the monsters, and there are rarely a few people who actually use a demon’s body to make magic foundations.

Here, as long as you build a house, you must choose a monster as the magic foundation. This is almost as important as the foundation, so——

Every house here has a monster or demon buried underneath.

If it is a second-hand house, the house with a good magic foundation can definitely be sold at a better price.

If it is land, the price of land where powerful monsters or demons have been buried will be higher, because the land itself will contain some “breath”.

To put it another way, there are actually corpses under every house here. Houses where monsters or demons have buried are more expensive, meaning graveyards here are easier to sell.

In a word: A haunted house is worth a lot of money.

Ji Huan: =-= It’s completely opposite to the rules of the world where I lived before.

However, the process of making a magic foundation is actually very brutal. Monsters or demons used as a magic foundation are often cruelly tortured and killed, because the hatred and pain left when being tortured and killed can make their breath reach its strongest point. This kind of breath is full of hostility and the most violent.

Then there are the monsters or demons who voluntarily become magic foundations.

With a strong desire to “protect”, their breath is often more powerful than the other.

Unfortunately, this is very rare.

The demons here believe in reincarnation. They firmly believe that after their death, their magic energy will dissipate and new demons will appear. These demons may be very low-level or have no consciousness, but this may be another way of their existence. When the time is right, or by chance, they will be “reborn” in this way.

But the demons that become the “magic foundation” cannot be reborn.

Their magic energy and even souls are fixed under a house, and they will never be reincarnated.

Ji Huan was a bit fascinated.

His attention was always focused on the page of the book, even forgetting to drink the barley tea he had prepared before. It wasn’t until he flipped through the last page that he thought of the person in the dream who was yelling “Make me the magic foundation of your house. I will look after your home and protect your courtyard…”, and he was stunned.

He thought of Ah Jin again.

They should be friends, right?

Ji Huan thought of the legend that Ah Jin had said about a ‘millenium heart’.

Perhaps the red-haired demon didn’t didn’t do it intentionally, but he must have hurt Ah Jin, even if he didn’t mean it.

Perhaps the condition for a ‘millenium heart’ to bloom does not come from the “innocence” of the betrayer, but from the “forgiveness” of the betrayed, right?

Ji Huan put down the book in his hand, put it back in its original place, and left the study carrying the teapot and cup.

Grandpa came back not long after this. He and Naji had a good harvest, but the harvest of Xiao Hui was slightly worse. He was more interested in water and spent more time washing clothes and storing water, and didn’t get too much prey in the end.

The one who gained the least was Abu, who was called away by a phone call. The prey he had hunted before were brought back to him by Naji.

After inspecting the prey brought back by Grandpa, Ji Huan decided to cook a sumptuous dinner.

During the cooking process, he received a call from Abu, who told him something inexplicable. Ji Huan continued cooking with a straight face, and soon after, he received a call from Ah Jin.

As he made a plate of pickled vegetables according to the other party’s request, he suddenly looked towards the door.

Sure enough——

It’s Ah Jin and Hei Dan who are back.

“Did you go to the luxury area?” Ji Huan still asked.

When he asked this question, Ah Jin was eating pickles. He not only ate them himself, but also fed them to Hei Dan.

God knows that Hei Dan doesn’t like pickled vegetables the most, but when Ah Jin fed it to his mouth, Hei Dan still yielded and opened his mouth.

Seeing this, Ji Huan gradually moved the plates of Hei Dan’s least favourite things in front of Ah Jin without a trace.

Ah Jin just glanced at him briefly and then took the initiative to pick up the vegetables and feed Hei Dan.

“Went.” Ah Jin said.

“Who told you? I guess… it was that tall demon?” He was very smart and immediately guessed the informer based on the location.

“It’s Abu…” There was no use hiding it, Ji Huan simply admitted it, but——

“He thought it was me who came over, so he didn’t say anything when he knew it was you, but——”

“But what?” Ah Jin seemed to be very interested in the content of the phone call between Ji Huan and Abu, and continued to ask.

“He reminded me to call you back later.” Ji Huan said this with his eyes lowered.

“Haha.” Ah Jin smiled and glanced at the young man with lowered eyes, saying, “I didn’t stay there for long before I left. I just took a ride in the elevator inside with Hei Dan, and also looked at fireworks. Your friend shouldn’t go to that kind of place when he’s free. It’s a bit messy, so you shouldn’t go either.”

“He also left soon.” Ji Huan said.

Looking at his grandson, who kept his head lowered, and then at the black-haired demon holding his great-grandson and feeding him, the lamb-horned demon always felt that something was wrong, but——

After scratching his head, the old man didn’t think much about it.

That night, Hei Dan didn’t take a shower, and he still has a fragrant smell of massage oil on his body. The little demon expressed that he wanted this smell to stay on his body for a while, but Ah Jin took a shower. When he came out, Ji Huan had already prepared his change of clothes, including his shirt and coat.

He never wears clothes that have been soaked in the rain for a second time, but——

He suddenly saw a “centipede” appearing on the shirt.

Although Ji Huan had tried hard to make the traces of sewing less obvious, under the excellent eyesight of a demon, the traces of sewing were completely visible.

Feeling the stitching, he suddenly lowered his head and sniffed it gently.

Then he hung up the shirt again and very easily rummaged through a set of young man’s clothes from Ji Huan’s closet, laying on the other person’s bed.

By the time Ji Huan came out of the shower, the black-haired demon had already fallen asleep holding the little demon in his arms.
