Chapter 146 – Devil

Home/ Devil / Chapter 146

In the darkness, Ah Jin’s breathing was very stable, but Ji Huan intuitively felt that this was still not right. His heart was beating loudly, and Ah Jin’s body under his palm was still motionless.

Ah Jin did not press on Ji Huan’s neck due to his actions, but… was suspended in the air. His face was just above Ji Huan’s neck, and his breathing was audible.

At this moment, the distance between them was already very close, but Ah Jin was still very tense and didn’t relax.

This very strange posture is evidence of that.

Ji Huan instinctively felt danger.

And then—

With his left hand still placed on the back of Ah Jin’s head, Ji Huan hesitated for a second before stretching out his other hand to caress Ah Jin.

It’s like caressing Hei Dan.

His movements were very slow and powerful, with a frequency and strength that has been tested and liked by Hei Dan. At the beginning, Hei Dan was a little demon that had no emotional response and could only stare at people with empty eyes.

At that time, Ji Huan gradually established a connection with him through this kind of physical contact.

There is no person or animal who dislikes physical or even skin-to-skin contact.

All living creatures have this desire.

Ji Huan remembered seeing such a sentence in a certain parenting book. He had no experience in raising babies but he still used this method somewhat dubiously.

His persistence was not just a matter of one or two days, ten or twenty days, one month or two months… Only by persisting was he able to raise Hei Dan to what he is now. If it weren’t for the difference between the appearance of demons and humans, whose children could be cuter than Hei Dan? Whose family’s child could be smarter than Hei Dan?

Feeling Hei Dan trembling and burying his head in his hair, Ji Huan knew that he was very scared now. Even he himself was very scared when he saw Ah Jin like this.

However, at this moment, he could only choose to continue comforting Ah jin. Feeling Hei Dan’s trembling, he spoke in the darkness.

“Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, just close your eyes and go to sleep. When you wake up again, everything will be fine.”

This sentence seems to be addressed to Ah Jin, but in fact it was meant for Hei Dan.

Ji Huan, who couldn’t reach out and pat Hei Dan, could only comfort him with his voice.

His voice was very soft, almost like a whisper, but it clearly penetrated into the ears of the two demons, one large and one small.

Ji Huan caressed Ah Jin over and over again, from the thin and soft hair to the cold skin of the neck, and then the back, which was wrapped in a shirt.

Under his seemingly thin appearance, Ah Jin’s back was extremely strong, and it’s not hard to imagine how much power those muscles possessed.

Ji Huan didn’t know how long it had been, but his palms felt a little tired. He touched Hei Dan on top of his head and realized that he(hd) wasn’t trembling anymore and was finally asleep.

Then quickly afterwards, Ah Jin’s head, which had been hanging above his neck, finally fell heavily.

The cold cheek pressed against his warm skin, along with the man’s heavy body which was pressing against his own body.

Ah Jin is also asleep.

Ah Jin’s head and body were both heavy, and Ji Huan, who was suppressed by him, could not move at all, and his palms were so sore that they almost cramped.

After feeling Ah Jin’s breathing become regular and almost inaudible, he finally confirmed that the man was truly asleep.

Ji Huan’s hand finally fell weakly on the bed.

Outside the window…it’s not bright yet…

The rain keeps falling.

Compared to the dense drizzle before, the rain now is more like a downpour.

Ji Huan’s eyelids closed heavily.

After tossing and turning for most of the night, he was finally able to rest.

However, it will be dawn soon, right? He has to get up on time to go to work…

In the end, all that was left in his mind was the obsession of going to work, and Ji Huan fell into a deep sleep.

It’s a dream again.

When Ji Huan found himself standing on the street again, he realised that he was dreaming again.

It was a street he didn’t recognize, and he swore he had never been to such a place before.

There are many demons on the roadside, and the clothes worn by those demons are obviously not Yefar’s style. Upon closer inspection, their clothing is… both similar and dissimilar to the current clothing of demons…..

Not knowing why he dreamed of such a place, Ji Huan stood on the street.

And then—

He saw Hei Dan.

The little demon was raising his head to look around. When he saw his uncle, he immediately turned in his direction and let out an “ah”.

Ji Huan looked at the little demon sitting on the ground, and worrying that he would be stepped on by passers-by, he immediately strode towards him.

Hei Dan stretched out his little arms and threw himself into Ji Huan’s arms. He tightly grasped his uncle’s clothes with a pair of small paws.

Feeling that he was scared, Ji Huan could only stroke his back over and over.

From the back of the head to the small buttocks, just like how he caressed Ah Jin just now.

After enjoying his uncle’s caress for a long time, Hei Dan finally stopped trembling.

Lifting his little head out of his uncle’s arms, Hei Dan stared at Ji Huan and babbled to him.

“Um.”

“Um.”

Ji Huan also responded to him very enthusiastically.

If it was an outsider, they probably wouldn’t understand a word, right? But Ji Huan knew that Hei Dan was telling himself how scared he was just now.

This kind of tacit understanding between uncle and nephew was cultivated after living together for a long time.

Hei Dan finally stopped talking and turned his little head back, curiously looking at the street around him.

Ji Huan adjusted Hei Dan’s posture in his arms, with his little face facing outward, so that he could look freely.

But… isn’t this Hei Dan’s dream?

Ji Huan rarely dreams. Now, he always gets pulled into Hei Dan’s dream, but Hei Dan’s reaction at this time… was obviously different.

It seemed that the people around them couldn’t see them. After confirming this, Ji Huan walked into several stores under Hei Dan’s command.

After looking around like two bumpkins for a long time, Ji Huan walked out with Hei Dan in his arms.

They walked aimlessly, but Ji Huan soon discovered that although he had no particular destination in his mind, his footsteps were uncontrollably heading in a fixed direction.

Gradually, he walked into a dark alley.

It was a completely different place from the street just now.

Dilapidated, dirty, and emitting a nauseating stench. It doesn’t look like a place where people live, but rather like a garbage dump——

Thinking of the garbage dump, Ji Huan immediately thought of Yefar.

But soon he realised that this was not Yefar.

These are just slums in a city.

Slums… Forgive him for thinking of only this word to describe this place.

Hei Dan stretched out his two small claws and covered his nose.

Ji Huan had no choice but to hold Hei Dan with both hands. He could only let his own footsteps lead him deeper into the alley.

Then, he walked into an exceptionally shabby, shack-like place, which was particularly smelly. Ji Huan almost fainted as he entered, and Hei Dan immediately buried his face in his uncle’s neck.

The inside of this exceptionally smelly shack was very clean.

To be precise, there are only a few things here that make it very clean.

Ji Huan saw a table with a broken leg in the centre of the shack, and there was also a book on the table.

When he saw the book cover, Ji Huan froze for a moment.

He had read this book before, right in Ah Jin’s study.

Just as he was thinking of Ah Jin, suddenly there was an additional person in the shack.

Only then did Ji Huan realise that he wasn’t the only one in this shack, there were also others!

It was a demon covered in a big cloak, sitting in the darkest corner of the shack. If it weren’t for him suddenly standing up and picking up the book on the table, Ji Huan never would have noticed him!

This person was very quiet, like a shadow.

Ji Huan noticed that the stench in the shack was actually coming from him!

Picking up the book on the table, Ji Huan saw him lighting a candle, then he pulled down his cloak and started reading.

That face has almost completely rotted, and Ji Huan could even see the sharp white teeth through the rotten lips! It was an extremely difficult appearance to look at directly, but——

When Ji Huan saw those black hair, a thought suddenly appeared in Ji Huan’s mind:

This person… no, this demon is…

Ah Jin.

That is a very definite thought.

His fingers have slid through those hair countless times, and he had become accustomed to the touch of those hair, and even to the curvature of Ah Jin’s head.

This demon that exudes a rotten stench and lives in a smelly shack is Ah Jin.

But Ah Jin is always clean and elegant.

Of course, upon closer inspection, he could see that the Ah jin in front of him is also elegant. Even though his body has become so terrifying, and even though he exudes an unbearable stench of decay, his attitude is still similar to the Ah Jin that Ji Huan knew.

Those bloody fingers slid across a page, flipping it over.

Ah Jin sat on the ground, leaning against the wall to read a book, while Ji Huan stood next to him with Hei Dan in his arms. He seemed to be trapped in this room. Standing next to Ah Jin, he couldn’t move his feet at all.

Until—

The wind… blew in from the narrow and small entrance of the shack.

The pages of the book were violently turned over several times. After closing the book in his hand, Ah Jin looked towards the entrance.

A demon appeared on the ground in front of them out of nowhere.

That demon looked even worse than a monster. The moment Ji Huan saw his appearance, he felt all the hairs on his back explode.

Ji Huan pressed Hei Dan’s head firmly against his neck, preventing him from looking back.

The demon in front of him was covered in blood, his whole body was torn apart with flesh and skin hanging all around, and Ji Huan could no longer see his original appearance.

However, this was not the reason why he felt creepy. What made Ji Huan feel numb was the wound on the other person’s neck!

I don’t know what tore it apart, but the demon’s neck was almost completely severed, with only a section of flesh still connected.

At this moment, the demon rushed in holding his own head!

It was really a terrifying visual effect——

Ji Huan wanted to turn around, but he couldn’t move his head at all.

This is not his dream, he simply has no control over his behaviour in this dream!

“You look very bad.” The demon whose head was about to be severed actually spoke.

Staring at the demon in front of him, Ah Jin’s dark eyes were like stagnant water, devoid of any emotion. There was no trace of shock in his eyes as he said calmly: “You also look very bad.”

“I’m going to die.” The demon continued.

The blood on his body was still flowing, and the hand holding his head began to tremble slightly.

For the last bit of connected flesh, he now had to hold his head upside down. In other words, the demon’s body in front of him was normal, but his head was upside down.

As in…. his eyes down and mouth up.

Ji Huan’s scalp was slightly numb.

“Take me back to my hometown. I don’t want to die outside.” The upside-down head spoke again.

“I always wanted to come out before, but after I came out, I realised that it was very good there.”

“Are you really begging me? You are begging…..” Ah Jin raised his chin slightly, then pointed at himself with one finger: “A person who can only hide in such a smelly place to cover up the stench on his body after being harmed by you?”

“Do you think I might help you?” The corners of Ah Jin’s mouth were slightly raised.

If Ji Huan saw Ah Jin making this expression in normal times, he could almost imagine that it would look like an elegant mocking expression. However, when this expression appeared on a rotten face, the effect could only be described as terrifying.

“I can only turn to you for help. The only person who can help me fulfil my last wish is you.” The demon said again: “The person you sent to kill me can appear wherever I am, and he can definitely take me back to my hometown.”

The scene after that became blurry, and a third demon appeared in the shack. Ji Huan was surprised to find that it was actually an acquaintance again!

The newly appeared demon had a high ponytail on his head, and his hair wasn’t too long. The ponytail on his head was not scattered, but divided into three braids. His face looked more tender, and although it looked a little different from what it looked like now, Ji Huan still recognized the demon in front of him at a glance.

Asimu? !

“Yo!” Smiling, he bent down and got in. When he saw the demon lying on the ground in front of him, Asimu raised his eyebrows.
