When did it start?
Um……
Let’s think about it…
That’s right, from the moment they followed Ji Huan, passed through the thin crack in the left wall, and stepped into this alley.
The overwhelming pressure, like the tide, surged in from the alley.
The space in front of them seemed to be instantly distorted, as if substantial pressure was being exerted from all directions. Abu turned around in an instant, wanting to cross the safety line again, but the way behind them was also blocked.
Although he couldn’t see it, he knew that it was blocked.
Abu looked up at the sky with difficulty: the sky was also covered by that pressure.
Ji Huan’s figure in front of him almost became a distorted shadow. He(jh) seemed not to be affected by any of the “pressure”, and he was still walking steadily carrying a bag of things.
The “distortion” in Abu’s eyes became severe, and in his vision, Ji Huan also slowly spun around with the surrounding scenery, gradually merging into one.
He vaguely saw Ji Huan turning around, his pale face twisting in a particularly strange way, and his two thin lips split into a thin crack, like a kind of nameless monster…
“A… bu…?”
Ji Huan’s voice was also distorted.
Behind him, Naji’s face was also a bit pale.
He also had cold sweat on his forehead, but his condition was better than Abu.
On that night, unknown to others, he had already experienced such substantive pressure, and now that he encountered this kind of pressure for the second time, he had more experience than Abu.
Thinking of the black-haired demon named Ah Jin hiding in the darkness that day, Naji still shuddered.
If all the pressure that day came from the demon named “Ah Jin” and whose “power” only covered the size of that room, then this pressure now should be coming from different directions…
“Here… there are… many… many… big demons…” He whispered.
Taking two deep breaths, Abu tried his best to keep up with Ji Huan’s pace.
The main purpose behind this “pressure” seems to be “monitoring”. When they leave the range covered by one “pressure”, that “pressure” will suddenly disappear, and then another one greets them.
After they crossed three houses, they were successively suppressed by three “pressures”. However, the road ahead is long, and they seem to be walking in a twisted vortex.
“…That house over there is my home.” Ji Huan spoke again.
When Abu heard the words, he breathed a sigh of relief and tried to speed up his pace, but as he approached the house Ji Huan was referring to, he felt——
Like falling into an ice cave!
As he approached the coverage area of that house, for an instant, Abu felt his back bristling with sweat!
A “pressure” that was more terrifying than all the “pressures” he felt before rushed towards him. For a moment, Abu had the illusion that he had fallen into an abyss!
He had a feeling that he was about to step into the most dangerous place of his life.
However——
“This is my home, and it’s also Ah Jin’s home.” Ji Huan pointed at the black carved door in front of him at this moment. He seemed to be smiling, but Abu couldn’t see Ji Huan clearly with his eyes.
In the darkness, a pitch-black house is in line with the habits of the demons.
The vast majority of demons can see clearly in the dark. They turn on lights just for convenience or to create an atmosphere. Demons who want to save money or are lazy usually don’t turn on the lights at night.
“Let me open the door first.” Abu heard Ji Huan say to himself.
Wait a moment——
Don’t open the door!
There is something terrifying inside the door, and once the door is opened, that thing will…
There was a crisp metal collision sound, accompanied by a “click” sound——
“Please come in.” The light purple moonlight shone on Ji Huan’s face, and his face looked even paler than usual.
The rusty door was oiled by Ji Huan, and the well-lubricated black door was pushed inward silently.
The door opened.
In the darkness, facing the door, a monster stood there silently.
The monster was not that big, not even as big as the prey carried by Abu and Naji, but it gave them an unprecedented sense of danger.
Its whole body was black, with a long black mane covering the head, like steel needles. The thin and dense mane extends from the top of the head to the position of the tail vertebrae, gradually fading. Having long fangs, a strange nose, and eyes that seemed to be glowing red in the dark, the most terrifying thing was that this monster had three heads.
Abu has never seen a monster with three heads, at least not in Yefar.
At this moment, the pair of eyes on those heads were looking straight at him. The monster’s eyes were like six flames, without any emotion inside…
You can’t move, as long as you move, you will be attacked.
Maybe he will get eaten.
Can’t beat it.
He can’t beat the opponent.
In an instant, Abu quickly compared the strength of the two sides through the breath emanating from the other party.
His scalp became numb as he came to this conclusion.
Suddenly, Abu heard a rustling sound, and only then did he realise that there was more than one monster in this yard.
On one of the heads of that terrifying three-headed monster, a strange bird stood quietly.
For some reason, the monster bird’s breath was unusually thin, almost melting into the darkness, and he failed to spot it immediately.
In the darkness, the eyes of the bird shone with a faint light.
With a “click”, Ji Huan closed the door behind him.
The door was locked again.
They were completely imprisoned here like this.
Locked up with a group of terrifying monsters.
Big cold sweat dripped from his forehead, and Abu looked towards the house behind the monster.
When he saw the figure behind one of the windows, Abu’s pupils suddenly shrank——
“Grandpa! I’m back!” Ji Huan’s voice broke the illusion: “I told you not to save on electricity bills, turn on the lights quickly, and Hei Dan has crawled to the window again, pull him back quickly.”
Accompanied by Ji Huan’s voice, the house in front of him was instantly lit up, and warm yellow light enveloped the house. The originally dark courtyard was instantly illuminated, shining on Ji Huan and also on the black manes of the three-headed monster.
Abu watched in horror as Ji Huan actually spoke to that monster.
“Eroka, are you here to pick me up again?”
The monster named Eroka remained motionless.
It was still staring at Abu and the others in front.
Ji Huan reached into his pocket and took out three round objects. He opened his palm and spread it towards the monster’s mouth, which suddenly moved.
The three heads approached one by one, and each licked a small round grain from Ji Huan’s hand.
“These are my friends, Abu, Naji, and Hui.” Realising that Eroka was still staring at the opposite side, Ji Huan introduced Abu and others to it.
The monster named Eroka walked over to Abu and raised her head to sniff the smell on Abu’s body.
Only then did Abu notice that this monster had a strange big nose, and its fangs were very long. When it sniffed over, it almost poked into Abu’s body.
Abu kept looking at Ji Huan and didn’t avoid it.
It wasn’t just one sniff, each of the three heads sniffed one after another. After three times, all the three heads were done, and the monster backed away.
Then the monster turned around and left. As it left, Ji Huan reached out and grabbed the “monster bird” on top of its head.
The “monster bird” cooed a few times, flapped its wings and flew away, flying to the other end of the yard with its wings fluttering. Only then did Abu realise that there were four similar looking “monster birds” over there.”
And the monster named Eroka also jumped into a very small… fence (?), where there was another white monster.
“That’s a pig I adopted. She loves sugar. Everyday she will wait for me here, and I will give her a candy when I get home.” Ji Huan said, patting his trouser pocket.
This sugar is brewed by Ji Huan himself, mainly made from a local plant, and the sweetness was only incidental. Its main function is the tooth-cleaning function of that plant. Although Yefar’s demons often don’t brush their teeth, their teeth are very good, even better than the demons outside.
When Ji Huan was worried about the fact that Hei Dan didn’t like the toothpaste bought from outside, Adan gave him a handful of that plant, saying that after chewing it, the mouth would not stink anymore. Ji Huan then discovered that it was a plant that tasted a bit like mint, but it looked more like a cactus.
There are not many plants in Yefar, and this is one of them. Although it is not delicious, local demons and monsters will eat some because they all know that it can make their teeth better.
Ji Huan has also eaten it, and both he and grandpa can accept that taste, but Hei Dan can’t. That taste is too stimulating for Hei Dan, and every time Ji Huan crushed that plant to wash his teeth, Hei Dan would sneeze non-stop.
Ji Huan has tried several ways to process this plant, but to no avail. However, once when Grandpa used it to cook mouthwash, he forgot to turn off the fire. When Ji Huan came back and turned it off, he found that a yellow-green gum like substance was left at the bottom of the pot.
After solidifying, it turned into a transparent yellow-green substance that looked very nice. Ji Huan tried to lick it, and found that the taste was still similar to that plant, but it was not so stimulating, and it was also a bit sweet.
He gave Da Bai some to eat and he was fine, but Eroka kept licking Da Bai’s mouth, so Ji Huan also gave some of it to Eroka, and she immediately fell in love with this “accidental product”. Hei Dan also liked this kind of candy.
Since then, Ji Huan started keeping a few candies in his pocket. In addition to Hei Dan, he also gives some to Eroka every day.
“Adopt?” Abu’s face was filled with concern as he looked in the direction where Eroka disappeared.
“Well, there was only Da Bai in my family, and Eroka was a relic of Ah Jin’s friend, and his friend passed away, so he sent it here.” Ji Huan explained.
Abu nodded. It turned out that it was Ah Jin who brought it, no wonder…
“Xiao Hua, are you off work? You’re a bit late today…” Grandpa’s voice came from the house.
Ji Huan was about to open the door, but the door was opened from inside.
Wearing an apron, Grandpa was holding Hei Dan as he appeared in front of the three.
He was still using Chinese, causing Abu and the others to feel confused.
“I brought my friends today.” Ji Huan said in the local language.
“Ah…that…you…you…” Grandpa was a little nervous when he saw so many friends of his grandson for the first time.
“Good!” Finally, it was Hei Dan in his arms who barely finished the sentence for Grandpa.
Recently, Hei Dan was taught to read many words by his grandpa, but grandpa always fails to read it right. On the other hand, Hei Dan always listened to his uncle read all the time, and had memorised a few words.
Now at home, Ji Huan always teaches Hei Dan at night, and Hei Dan would teach it to grandpa during the day.
Now, it is already Hei Dan’s daily task to fill in the places where Grandpa gets stuck in his words.
As soon as the small voice came out, Abu and Naji’s gaze instantly shifted to Hei Dan.
The moment they saw Hei Dan——
Both Abu and Naji’s expressions changed.
