Where is the toughest hunting ground in the world?
Some people say that it is Aputo, a famous training place for high-level demons, where the most vicious monsters of the world reside. Every year, thousands of demons form groups to capture these rare monsters there, and sell them to wealthy people, fighting arenas, or restaurants.
Some people say that it is the Red Land, a mysterious continent that is close to another realm that is said to be nearby. It also has many rare monsters that can’t be found anywhere else. Few of the monsters that accidentally fall into the other realm can actually come back alive, proving their strength and how difficult it would be to hunt them.
However——
“The prey here is easy to catch.” Although the little grey devil arms had a cast on, he still caught a fairly big prey, which was much bigger than the bones he had previously hunted.
“Fat.” The little grey devil poked the fat belly of the otter-like prey, watching it swaying in circles. He raised his head and gave Ji Huan a small smile.
“Oh! This is an otter dolphin. It runs very fast and is very difficult to catch!” Nibru was a little surprised.
The little grey devil’s prey was enough to surprise him, and when he saw the prey caught by Abu and the others, his surprise turned into fright!
Next, Ji Huan began to slaughter the prey. Abu used two stones to knock out the sparks, and then used the collected hay to turn those sparks into a fire. Naji split a tree and picked out the suitable branches, and then several young people worked together to put the prey that Ji Huan had processed on the bonfire.
It doesn’t matter if there were no ingredients, Abu found a honeycomb, dug out the honey and touched the prey with it, and the bee pupae inside were not spared either. The little grey devil picked it out one by one, put it on the stone slab, and then pushed it all together into the fire. The prey happened to be on the stone slab where the bee pupa was placed, and when the oil dripped, it just fell onto the stone slab. The fire occasionally made a sizzling sound, and accompanied by that sound, what came was an increasingly fragrant aroma!
All the demons stared at the increasingly fragrant barbecue grill with bright eyes. When Ji Huan announced that they could start eating, everyone’s paws reached out to the grill.
Nibru also received a piece of thigh meat.
There’s no salty taste, but the taste of roasted meat in honey was really good, especially the roasted bee pupae on the stone slab was really delicious! Unfortunately, Nibru only got three pieces, and by the time he reached out to grab it again, the slate was already empty.
“…” The demons from Yefar really eat too fast!
Fortunately, Ji Huan saw that he wanted to eat more, so he specially left some for him. Nibru was a little embarrassed, but he still took the bee pupae.
After finishing the “barbeque”, Nibru offered to invite everyone for a drink, saying that he will pay for it. This time, Abu and the others did not refuse.
Nibru took them to the urban area. Considering Abu and the group’s possible taste, he took them to a bar with a rough style, ordered a table of wine, and even ordered a large glass of brightly colored drink for the little grey devil.
However, Abu was very interested in that glass of drink, so he borrowed a sip from the little grey devil, and then borrowed two more sips, finally he exchanged his whole wine glass with it.
The little grey devil frowned, but drank it anyway.
Nibru didn’t talk much, most of the time he just sat quietly in the corner watching the group of young people interact with each other. He didn’t show it on the surface, but in his heart, he became even more curious about the identities of these young people.
At first glance, these people are not from the same class as the boss. They are old and small, and from their appearance, they don’t seem to belong to the same family. However, they have a similar temperament, which was a bit strange.
He was instructed by his boss to take people out for lunch. The boss did not tell him the identities of these people, so Nibru immediately knew that the identities of these people were not something he should know.
Take the group wherever they want to go, and treat them well. The boss gave a card, and he could tell at a glance that the card had a very high consumption limit. As someone who has dealt with money for many years, he can also see at a glance that these people’s economic conditions are very poor. In this case, the other party’s behavior generally has two types: either they spend money lavishly, or they are tied up because of some reason, unable to let go.
In regard to this situation, he thought of these two options, but both were useless.
The other party actually ran into the wild, hunted the prey and roasted it by themselves!
He was also invited to eat barbecue by the other party!
They hunted a lot of prey, and a small part of the unfinished food was packed up, which was said to be brought back for the boss as a night snack, while they are planning to sell the remaining prey.
Several young demons were now discussing where to sell the prey.
“Uncle, where is the market here?” The demon named Abu stared at him.
This demon has a carefree personality, and should be the most powerful demon in the group. He loves to talk and laugh, and is generally a type who is quite easy to get along with. However, whenever Nibru was occasionally stared at by him, he always felt a bit cold in his back.
The other party was not as rough as he appeared, it was a thick and thin demon. Thinking of the crushed bones of the prey he hunted, Nibru felt as if his back was even colder.
“Market?” When hearing this word, Nibru was stunned.
He is also a demon from a small place, but this word still has a little to no impression in his mind.
“Ah! I forgot, you may understand it with another word here. We want to sell the prey, I don’t know if the restaurants here accept it or not?” Although he taught Naji before, Abu still often gets it wrong by himself. Yefar’s lifestyle is quite different from the outside world, he doesn’t have many opportunities to come out, and he won’t be able to switch freely for a while.
“This… Please let me check.” Nibru eats in restaurants everyday. He knows that he can buy food here, but he really doesn’t know where to sell it. When he was in his poorest and most difficult years, he would rather make counterfeit goods than go hunting. This problem is really a bit difficult for him.
Probably because he got a little familiar with him, Naji finally dared to talk to him: “Uncle, uncle, you, you don’t, don’t sell food… How, how do you live?”
A fluffy little demon— this was Nibru’s impression of Naji.
This child is not very talkative, and has an average hunting ability. Among the prey the group brought back before, the prey he caught was the smallest and very ugly. Nibru had never seen it before, so they didn’t dare to eat it, and were preparing to sell it.
Nibru had a good impression of this young demon, his similar body shape reminded him of himself when he was young.
It was because his body was too weak to support himself through hunting that he embarked on the path of making counterfeits.
Now seeing a child who is in a similar situation to himself, he is willing to talk to him more.
So, Nibru, who claimed to be a senior, poked his head out from the corner and began to speak:
“You can tell by my body shape that my physical strength is very poor!” He said, and even compared Naji’s arms with his own, yes! Naji’s slender arms are a circle smaller than his!
Nibru immediately moved his arm away.
Naji was dumbfounded, and after a long while, he let out an “ah”, and then continued to ask: “Then, how did you live until now…”
Nibru: This kid really can’t talk.
However, in this way, he found that in addition to his poor physical condition, the child even stutter while speaking, and his pitiful impression of the other party became stronger:
“I started to make counterfeit money.”
“I squatted in front of a shop selling Gebu(a type of bread) for three days, then I went to the garbage dump to pick up a few metal cans. After picking the right materials, I made three counterfeit coins and bought a piece of Gebu.”
Nibru didn’t want to mention his past because he didn’t have good memories, but now seeing this young demon whose brain was short of something, he couldn’t help telling these old stories.
In his mind, this memory was very good. At that time he forgot the pain of hunger and cold, leaving only the fragrance of the first piece of Gebu.
Nibru clicked his mouth: “That piece of Gebu was really delicious.”
Naji also shed a drop of saliva.
“Broken, broken…. metal jars…can, can they be turned into money? I……I don’t believe it.”
The little guy still doesn’t believe it!
Nibru suddenly became interested.
He glanced around secretly, and took the empty wine jar that Adan had drank from, then picked up a table knife and a spoon from the table, and began to move his hands on the wine jar.
They saw that Nibru cut a circular metal piece from the wine can, and then cut several more pieces, the last piece was larger than the others. He smashed all the metal pieces together, and finally the largest circular metal plate was used to stick it to the outside, and the larger round happened to make a border. Then, he used a knife to continuously draw on the metal, and finally, a coin really appeared!
“Gold bar!” Naji rarely stuttered!
Seeing that he really wanted to see it very much, Nibru handed him the counterfeit money that had just been created in his hand. Naji looked at it carefully, and without saying anything he passed it to the group and it finally ended up in Adan’s hand….
Adan lowered his eyes and stuffed the counterfeit money into his pocket.
“It was originally made from my wine jar.” The old demon said it righteously.
“It’s okay, as long as you don’t spend it, it’s fake after all.” Nibru waved his hand.
“Making counterfeits is not a good thing after all, and I haven’t made fakes for hundreds of years.”
“Then, can you afford Gebu now?” Naji obviously cared about whether he could afford to eat.
This question was just right, and with the corner of his mouth slightly curved, Nibru said what he had wanted to say a long time ago.
“I’m working for Mr. Firzaha now, and my monthly salary is this amount.” He stretched out five fingers.
“5, 500 bone coins?” Naji stuttered, knowing Ji Huan’s salary was 600 bone coins per month, Naji was very envious.
“Bone coins?” Nibru was obviously unaware of such currency that was only popular in Yefar, so he directly said:
“My monthly salary is now 5,000 gold bars.”
The young people were stunned——
“So, it doesn’t matter if you have poor physical strength, as long as you work hard, you can earn a lot of money through a regular job.” Nibru’s persuasive gaze slid across the faces of Naji, Ji Huan and little grey devil one by one.
Nibru was deeply immersed in his sense of accomplishment that he had guided several young demons towards a path that leads to success, until when passing by a fighting arena, Naji took out a golden card from his pocket. The young demon stuttered, a bit regretful that he didn’t have the time to cash in the money in his card.
“Some cards used in the fighting arena are universal. I don’t know much about them, but you can go in and ask.”
So, he led a group of people into a fighting arena on the side of the road.
The author has something to say:
In fact, in my heart, Xiao Hui and Naji are both portrayals of a part of Ah Jin’s life.
In them, everyone can see the days that Ah Jin has experienced.
When Ah Jin came to a big city for the first time, there was no one to guide him, only one person…
Their lives are destined to be different.
