Chapter 102 (Part 1) – There’s A Beauty

Home/ There’s A Beauty / Chapter 102 (Part 1)

Sometimes, Emperor Chun was very arrogant and domineering, while other times, he was quite honest and upright. Liu Wen had long felt that something was wrong, but he didn’t think much about it. He just thought of the other party as someone who bullied the weak and feared the strong. But when the general asked him, he vaguely realized that no matter how fickle a person is, their eyes should always be the same.

However, Emperor Chun was different. When he acted arrogant and domineering, his eyes were full of filth, which was so disgusting no matter how beautiful he was; But suddenly, when he got quiet for a moment, his pupils were like the blue sky that had been washed with rain, clear and sparkling. At this time, he looked very timid, a little hesitant, and helpless, which made people feel very pitiful.

To be honest, there were a few times when even Liu Wen was hesitant to blame him even if he thought that the other person had made a mistake.

Meng Changye saw that his military advisor felt the same as himself and asked hurriedly, “Did you also see it?”

“General, I know that Emperor Chun is beautiful, and he is indeed very lovable when he is well-behaved. A rough man like you might have some thoughts when you look at him. But I have to warn you in advance that his appearance is probably just a pretense. His main purpose is to confuse us, and then take the opportunity to escape.” Liu Wen poked the bonfire with a stick, his face solemn. The general seemed to have been confused.

“What if he is not pretending?” Meng Changye was still unwilling to give up.

“Let’s see if he is pretending. Anyway, even if he wants to escape, there is no way.” Liu Wen threw the stick into the fire and burned it.

“That’s right. Even if he is pretending, as long as he is willing to pretend for a lifetime, I am willing to enshrine him. Don’t you scholars have a saying– ‘holding the emperor… what is it again?” Meng Changye scratched his head.

“Holding the emperor hostage to command the princes.” Liu Wen completed it for him.

“Yes, that’s it. Laozi will make him emperor in name and command those feudal lords, and then I’ll be the regent.” (Laozi= an arrogant way of referring to oneself)

Liu Wen shook his head, “General, if you arrested a naive and ignorant young prince who had just ascended to the throne, it would be appropriate to do so. However, Emperor Chun has been on the throne for three years, and his reputation for cruelty and ruthlessness has already spread. If you claim to be the emperor in his name, I’m afraid you won’t be able to win the hearts of the people. It would be more stable if you put on the dragon robe and become king on the spot.”

Meng Changye was silent. He understood that the military advisor’s words were very reasonable, but he was unhappy in his heart. He had already separated Emperor Chun from the puppy. What did Emperor Chun’s cruelty have to do with his puppy? Why put the blame on his puppy for Emperor Chun’s crimes? How could the world be so unfair?

With the thick beard blocking his face, Liu Wen couldn’t guess the general’s thoughts for a moment, so he had to turn around and look at the treasure map.

Just at this time, the porridge was ready, and a soldier knocked on the iron pot to let everyone go over to eat. Chang Shun came over cautiously and bowed, “General, it’s time to eat. Do you think you can pull out the cloth strip from the emperor’s mouth?”

“You can pull it out. But he is no longer the emperor, so you should change your way of addressing him. It makes my hands itch when you call him the emperor all the time.” Meng Changye raised his eyelids.

“Yes, General. Then do you think it is appropriate for this servant to call him master?” Chang Shun asked again.

“As long as you don’t call him the emperor, it’s up to you.” Meng Changye took the bowl of porridge from the soldier. He had just taken a few sips when he saw the hunting team coming back, so he immediately went over to help deal with wild deer, pheasants, hares, and other things.

After Chang Shun got the promise, he carefully took a bowl and humbly asked for two bowls of porridge. Finally, he pulled out the cloth strip from Emperor Chun’s mouth and scooped over a spoonful of porridge from the bowl.

Emperor Chun used to spend thousands of taels of silver on a single meal, and even a dish of boiled cabbage needed to be cooked for several hours. How could he eat this porridge made of sorghum, bitter buckwheat, and brown rice? He didn’t eat in the morning, and didn’t eat at noon even after vomiting all over the floor. By the night, he was already starving to the point where his chest was pressed against his back, but his picky appetite and delicate body couldn’t tolerate coarse food. He only ate two bites before vomiting it out again.

“What on earth is this? Why does it taste like sand? My throat hurts so much after eating it. Take it away, take it away, and give me a bowl of green rice porridge!” He stuck out his tongue while speaking.

The Tiger Army had been stationed in the northwest for years, drinking cold wind, eating yellow sand, wearing cold iron, and sleeping on wooden boards. They had experienced many hardships.

Especially, for the sake of luxury and enjoyment, Emperor Chun repeatedly withheld their military pay, to the point where countless brothers in the camp froze and starved to death. The ration they have saved for their trip to the capital was accumulated by them for several years, and they dared not waste a single grain of rice on weekdays, so they naturally couldn’t stand the actions of Emperor Chun.

This time, not only Liu Chuanshan was furious, but the eyes of the several other deputy generals also turned cold. Just as they were about to walk over to teach this dog emperor a lesson, they saw the general striding over with a bloody dagger in his hand, looking very terrifying. Everyone made way for him, thinking that the general was going to do it himself!

Meng Changye really wanted to hang Emperor Chun on a tree and beat him up, but when he approached and saw his beautiful face, he couldn’t do anything at all.

Damn it! Beating this dog emperor is equivalent to beating the puppy. When the puppy wakes up, won’t he have to endure the pain?

While cursing secretly, he took the bowl from Chang Shun’s hand and roughly scooped a large mouthful of porridge, pouring it into Emperor Chun’s mouth.

When Emperor Chun saw him holding a dagger, he thought that the other party was going to stab him. However, when he saw that the general did nothing, not even a curse, but just came to feed him porridge, he couldn’t help but feel much more relaxed.

It has been said before that Emperor Chun is a master who won’t shed tears until he sees the coffin. No matter how many times he is taught, he will not learn. Once he discovers that you have softened your temper, he will immediately take advantage of you.

So right now, when he felt that General Huwei was being too tolerant of him, he immediately became presumptuous and spat out a mouthful of porridge into his face, shouting loudly, “I said I don’t eat pig food! I want to drink green glutinous rice porridge!”

Meng Changye wiped off the porridge on his face and looked at Liu Wen calmly, “What is green glutinous rice porridge?”

“Green glutinous rice porridge is made from green glutinous rice.” Liu Wen said slowly, “Green glutinous rice is native to Yutian, Hebei province, and it is offered as a tribute. This kind of rice is slender and slightly green, and there is a unique fragrance when it is cooked. There is even a poem praising it: ‘The color of the water in the spring is blue and green, and the fragrant smell of cooked rice makes the lotus petals turn red. People know that Kunlun(mountain) is in the sky, and the green essence is not the same as the earth below.’ This shows how delicious the porridge made from glutinous green rice is.”

Meng Changye nodded and suddenly splashed a bowl of porridge on Emperor Chun’s face, scolding angrily, “We fought in the northwest, and when we were starving to death, we even ate the corpses of our companions. But you were fucking enjoying your luxury in the capital. Was it fun? And you still want to drink green glutinous rice porridge. Fine, then I’ll let you drink enough!”

After speaking, he waved his hand and asked the soldiers to bring buckets of water over, then poured one ladle after another. He couldn’t beat this dog emperor, so he could only use this method to frighten him.

At this point, winter was approaching, and the weather was very cold. Although the water had been boiled and was warm, it will soon freeze into ice, which was even more uncomfortable than being splashed with cold water.

After being splashed with a few ladles of water, Emperor Chun began to howl like a ghost and even fainted after crying for a short while.

Well, it was not his fault. Sixteen years of luxurious life had already turned him into a flower in a greenhouse. To others, pouring a few ladles of water was just the lightest punishment, but to him, it was like a torrential rain.

A group of soldiers were dumbfounded and exclaimed, “Did he faint just now? He can’t even stand this little bit of torment!” No wonder the general didn’t use his fists. With the general’s strength, he might end up killing him with just one finger.

Everyone shook their heads and dispersed, except for Liu Wen who came to the general’s side and stared at the unconscious man with burning eyes, “General, let’s wait and see which Emperor Chun wakes up.”

“Emperor Chun is Emperor Chun, and the puppy is the puppy, don’t confuse them.” Meng Changye frowned.

“Puppy? Is that the nickname you gave him?” Liu Wen snorted, pointing at the person on the ground who was tied-up and soaked all over, “I really want to see his expression when you call him that.”

“Get out of here!” Meng Changye kicked him and finally pointed at Chang Shun, “Come over and change his clothes for him.” But after thinking about it, he felt that something was wrong. Emperor Chun’s body is also the puppy’s body, and if this damn eunuch changes his clothes, won’t he see the puppy without clothes? No way!

“You also get out of here, I’ll do it myself.” He drove away Chang Shun and carried the boy to a secret place to clean him up. He wanted to play with his delicate fingertips and small feet, but when he saw the pale skin, he realized that the weather was too cold and it was not suitable, so he quickly found the clean clothes and put them on him.

Carrying the boy to the bonfire to keep warm, Meng Changye wanted to hold him in his arms. However, he was afraid that the damn dog emperor would wake up, so he reluctantly put the person on the ground and covered him with a thin blanket before picking up a skinned rabbit to roast.

Liu Wen sat on the other side, repeatedly flipping over the treasure map in his hand, obviously stumped. It was not easy for their team to make it to where they are today. All the soldiers in their army are rough and have not read many books. The military advisor is the only one who can give advice and make plans. Fortunately, Liu Wen had enough brains to avoid leading everyone into a trap.

He looked at the map for a long time but couldn’t figure it out. He sighed and said, “General, you are actually quite intelligent. You know all about martial arts, so why don’t you learn calligraphy? If you are willing to read more books, your subordinates’ life will be much easier. Look at this treasure map. Only you could find the route, but all I see is a mess.”

“What kinds of books are you reading? Laozi is the most impatient when it comes to reading and practicing calligraphy, especially the brush. It breaks with a little pinch, and your hands get stained ink that won’t wash for a few days!” Meng Changye frowned and thought for a moment, then shook his head and said, “There is also a problem with the route I found. After passing this mountain ravine, there is no way ahead. If you follow the direction marked on the map, you will have to jump off the cliff and fall to pieces.”

“Then do we need to use ropes to go down? We have to follow the map unless it’s fake.” At this point, Liu Wen glanced at Emperor Chun, his gaze quite unfriendly.
