Chapter 77 – The Demon King Took Off His Little Horns

Home/ The Demon King Took Off His Little Horns/ Chapter 77

Because of Saros, Ansel remained completely for the rest of the journey, busy fighting with Saros.

His Majesty the Demon King Saros had clearly fallen into a state of self-destruction; He no longer thought about being sleepy and leaning on Ansel’s shoulder. Instead, he was busy fighting with the other person.

If it weren’t for the other demon hunters sleeping on the bus, they could have fought from front to the back of the bus.

“Summoning the Giant Watermelon” is utterly boring!

Ansel thought coldly.

Not as cool as “Ansel vs. Saros”!

The bus driver thoughtfully dropped Ansel off at the entrance of the hotel where he usually stayed.

Ansel said goodbye to the other demon hunters and got off with Saros, who was invisible to others. Behind him, Vassago slowly appeared, scrutinizing the towering hotel building.

Not as grand as the Demon King’s Palace.

It’s only barely acceptable.

“You haven’t been in the human world for long. I am planning to check out in the next few days,” Ansel said as he went upstairs. He couldn’t help but smile when he saw Vassago looking at the elevator with a bit of curiosity. It seemed that his supervisor needed some time to adjust to these novelties of the human world.

Vassago’s gaze had just left the elevator when he saw His Majesty step out, swipe his room card, open the door, and go inside. Saros naturally followed behind him.

Vassago: “…?”

Vassago: “!!!”

Great! Is everyone now so blatant about snatching other people’s cabbages?

“Your Majesty!” Vassago hurriedly called out to Ansel, forcing a smile. “You and His Majesty Saros…”

“Oh, this,” Ansel explained. “At that time, there was only one room left, and we both needed to rest, so we just compromised.”

Compromised? I am sure some scheming demon was definitely ecstatic to “compromise”!

Vassago immediately looked at the Demon King Saros, whose expression was calm and flawless. And about half a minute later…

His gaze shifted slightly.

It shifted slightly!

When Vassago saw the room’s decoration, he was so enraged that he felt like his skull was about to explode, his tentacles practically roasting into sizzling squid from his own fury!

There’s even a newlyweds’ waterbed!

“This room is actually quite comfortable,” Ansel said, walking further inside, “But since you’re here, Vassago, please find a suitable house nearby. You can rent it first, so the others will have a place to stay after they arrive.”

Vassago swiftly blocked his master’s path as he tried to enter the “bridal chamber”.

“Your Majesty,” He forced a smile, “Could you wait a minute? Let me tidy up the room.”

Just watch him chop this dilapidated “bridal chamber” in two with one axe! And then shatter some scheming demon king’s delusion of snatching their Eastern Region’s cabbage!

His supervisor is always so considerate. Ansel felt a surge of pride in front of Saros. He nodded reservedly to Vassago, then raised an eyebrow at Saros, as if to say, “Look at my supervisor! How excellent!”

He noticed Saros’ expression turned slightly serious, then relaxed.

“What’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing.”

Saros regained his composure, as he had already found a solution to this situation in his family’s Demon King education.

In just one minute, Vassago had completely transformed the room. When Ansel opened the door again, he was surprised to find the room divided into two, separated by a wall, making it appear as if there had always been two rooms.

“This way, the two lords won’t disturb each other when they rest,” Vassago emphasized the word “disturb each other,” almost gritting his teeth.

Vassago’s housekeeping skills as a supervisor were truly exceptional. Although Ansel could fall asleep anywhere, Vassago’s tidiness made the room feel comfortable to lie down. Having stayed up all night, Ansel was incredibly tired. He was just preparing to sleep when he heard a sound coming from the window.

He opened his eyes, casually casting a spell to open the window, and Saros jumped in.

Ansel’s supervisor is really naive.

The Demon King thought expressionlessly, but inwardly felt quite proud.

Didn’t he know the term—

“Adultery”?

Ansel feigned disgust.

“Don’t you have your own bed?” He said dismissively, but still moved aside, making room for Saros.

Saros was overjoyed. Vassago, Ansel’s subordinate, was truly a talented one; even cutting the bed in half, his intention to separate them was obvious. But if not for that, how could he have received such treatment!

The bed had been reduced in size, bringing him even closer to Ansel, almost arm in arm.

Ansel was so sleepy that he could barely keep his eyes open. He moved aside and closed his eyes, mumbling softly, “Sleep… Good night.”

Saros’s breathing slowed down, and he responded softly and gently.

“…Good night.”

Rarely being this close to Ansel, this night, he was going to…

***

Ansel, feeling refreshed after a good night’s sleep, got up for his night shift. He saw Saros sitting on the edge of the bed, fingers interlaced on his lap, seemingly dignified and composed, but his pupils were trembling incessantly.

Ansel: “…” What happened now???

Saros: “…”

I fell asleep.

His pupils were trembling.

He only secretly managed to kiss Ansel’s hair before falling asleep because he hadn’t slept for over two days and was on high alert watching Ansel.

Missed the opportunity.

He wanted to die.

However…

Ansel gathered his hair and prepared to tie it up casually; he was about to go to work. Suddenly, he felt a slight tingling sensation on the back of his neck. Just as he was about to check his reflection in the magic mirror, Saros silently stepped forward to help him gather his hair.

He immediately forgot about it and became happy.

“Let me tie it up like last time. This way, your hair won’t get in the way at work at all.”

“Okay.”

The braided hair fell down, perfectly concealing the traces left from last night.

———It’s not a completely missed opportunity either.

Saros cleverly flipped through the window and went out with Ansel.

Vassago’s smile stiffened; he was almost at his wit’s end. This was clearly another Demon King, yet he clung to his Majesty like a dog-skin plaster. Couldn’t he just cling to himself in the mirror if he wanted to cling to another Demon King?!

No way! Either Andre or Bululu, one of those two green tea experts, has to come here as soon as possible!

“Saros, Vassago, let me show you my workplace!”

Ansel was in high spirits. Saros had already been to the convenience store, but Vassago hadn’t.

Vassago stared wide-eyed at the “Angel Convenience Store” sign, pressing his eyes back into the sockets.

What followed was even more outrageous. The warrior, Rhein, came out carrying a trash can to empty the garbage. The electric doors slid open, and he found himself locked in a six-way eye contact with two Demon Kings and a great demon. Saros was still invisible, but Ansel was deliberately letting Vassago appear in the open, otherwise it would be too inconvenient later.

—The Western Demon King Saros, accompanied by the Eastern Demon King Ansel and his close advisor Vassago, traveled to the human world to inspect the warrior’s working environment.

Rhein opened his mouth, but instead of directly addressing Ansel as “My Lord Angel,” he appeared much more composed. For some reason, Ansel felt that Rhein possessed a wonderful trait—a blend of boundless energy and a profound sense of weariness—a complete transformation.

Ansel still didn’t know that this warrior had drunk a large amount of chicken soup for middle-aged and elderly people.

“Ansel.” Joey’s voice came from the store. It was obvious that he had started work. “There’s a batch of food close to its expiration date to deal with in the store. Just wait a moment and go directly to the cash register.”

Ansel responded, nodding to Rhein as he went inside. The warrior also gestured with a trash bag in his hand. Rhein had already changed out of his work uniform and could have left after throwing away the trash, but after walking a short distance, he suddenly turned back.

Even a warrior wouldn’t notice anything, because Ansel had deliberately used magic to envelop Vassago; ordinary people were unlikely to detect the presence of demons.

He saw Rhein, who had turned back, flipping through a cardboard box by the shop entrance, pulled out an icon, and slapped it onto the door.

Ansel looked closely. The triangular icon depicted a goose with an “X” on it.

【Geese are prohibited from entering.】

Ansel: “…”

Saros: “…”

Taking advantage of his human form, His Majesty the Demon King cleanly tore off the forbidden icon and crumpled it into a ball. To outsiders, the icon was suddenly torn off like a ghost and turned into a ball.

“Well, I’ll head back now,” Saros said, crumpling the paper. “Contact me anytime if you need anything.”

Ansel suppressed his laughter and watched him disappear without a trace, unaware that some cunning demon had just left with their front legs when their back legs emerged from his shadow.

The advantage of having multiple accounts is the ability to switch accounts and log in at any time.

The Black Swan leaned against Ansel’s leg and shook its head, giving Vassago a look that seemed to say “little brother, you’re not up to par”, almost clicking its tongue.

Vassago: “…”

Veins bulged on his forehead.

Ansel picked up the mischievous goose with a smile and told him not to run around the store. Then he briefly introduced the store to Vassago. He also mentioned that in a few days, he would find a way to buy this convenience store.

“Then this store will become His Majesty’s property?!”

Vassago immediately became extremely attentive, carefully scrutinizing the store’s layout and decorations.

“This will be His Majesty’s first property in the human world; it must be perfect!”

Joey finished sorting out the expired food and emerged from behind, shaking off the water from his hands. As soon as he looked up, he saw a figure standing behind Ansel—a man with silver hair and grey pupils, dressed in a sharp black tailcoat, exuding elegance. For some reason, Joey felt an instinctive vigilance towards this person, his entire body seemingly trembling.

In short, his head was buzzing.

But if it was Ansel who brought people, it should be fine, right?”

It seems that the Holy Sword is capable of identifying demons; only the Demon King, with his transcendent abilities, can remain undetected… Of course, Ansel himself wouldn’t be detected, as he’s an angel.

“Let me introduce you, this is Joey, my colleague at the convenience store,” Ansel introduced him to Vassago.

Vassago, sensing His Majesty’s attention to the person, smiled and nodded, appearing very friendly.

“Hello, Mr. Joey, I’m Vassago, His Majesty… Lord Ansel’s butler.”

Wow.

Joey exclaimed in surprise.

He knew it! Ansel’s background was definitely not simple; he probably ran away from home to avoid inheriting the family business.

Vassago had already gained a basic understanding of the situation at the convenience store. He looked around and finally smiled at Ansel and Joey.

“My lord, Mr. Joey, I’d like to make some… adjustments to this store. Not only will it attract more customers, but it will also provide you both with a more comfortable working environment.”

Seeing Joey open his mouth, Vassago quickly spoke.

“It won’t disrupt normal business hours, I will probably only need…”

He opened his pocket watch, glanced at the time, and smiled confidently.

“Ten minutes.”

Joey’s mouth slowly opened wide, but then he heard Ansel suddenly ask…

“Isn’t ten minutes a bit long? The store will open at midnight, and there are only five minutes left.”

Joey quickly tugged at Ansel, telling him not to be so demanding. We are talking about organizing the entire convenience store! Ten minutes already sounded impossible, and Ansel was insisting on five! Wouldn’t the butler be angry?!

Unexpectedly, Vassago immediately apologised and changed his words.

“I was afraid of startling Lord Ansel’s friend earlier, so I extended the time a bit. So, how about I finish it in three minutes and leave two minutes for you two to admire the results?”

Joey: “…”

He was silent for a moment, then tugged at Ansel beside him and asked.

“Ansel, how much is your butler’s annual salary?”

He thought that with this kind of efficiency and ability, his annual salary should be at least a hundred million!

Ansel: “…”

Annual salary? What annual salary?

Author’s Note:

Too shocking! The Demon King of the Eastern Region is actually the biggest heartless capitalist!

Convenience store owner: …I admit defeat!
